I am not backing the horse I was interested in tonight, poor value so no bet.

In what looks a race between the front two in the betting Alfaqad is the one I think can oblige, he was a good third on debut, and  will improve for that run,  and is taken to win this race.  He was an expensive buy as a yearling and should be fine on the ground.

It is quite difficult today, hopefully the rain and strong winds avoid todays race meetings.

A good winner yesterday with Kew Gardens winning at Newmarket easily by over 4l.  Today I have nothing solid so no bet advised.

Bit unfortunate yesterday, Sound And Silence just beaten a neck, he ran a good race, the main threat Abel Handy just denied him.

Short price favourite, but I think this horse has a solid claim in this race.  He has been running in stronger races and was a good 4th last time in a group 2.  A few of his rivals are stepping up into pattern company for the first time.  Rastrelli has won his last two runs and is improving.   Dee Ex Bee just scraped home last time, he may benefit from the step up in trip, although his best form has been when it has been soft ground.

I do think we could see a very good horse running today in Expert Eye 3.00 Newmarket, he looked very good last time, and is favourite currently for next years 2,000 Guineas in May, lets hope he wins well today.  He is just a bit short to back !

Time: 3.00 Newmarket

Current Odds: 6/1 EW

In a quite competitive race Dabyah faces the colts for her first time, she has good form over 7f, winning at Newmarket over the trip as a two year old, she has had a break from a good fourth at Ascot behind Winter, that was at the top level, she drops to Gp2 today, and back a furlong, both should suit.  Limato is the favourite, he will be tough to beat, as he also likes the trip of 7f. I just think at 6/1 she is a decent EW bet.

Sound and Silence 1.50 Newmarket has a big chance of winning again, he likes the track , and 5f is his best distance.  I have backed him at 9/4 to win. Over 5f it is vital to get a good break or your race could be over, my selection usually is given a bit of time and finishes well, he has Abel Handy to beat again today, having beat him last time at York.

Horse: Montys Award (without Fav)

I am going to back this horse without the favourite, he is around 6/4-11/8 on (betfair) so I think this is reasonable.  He was a winner on his first run last season, then ran a bit below par on his next start, he had a little issue which has been given time to recover.  I think he is a nice prospect for the current jump season, the favourite Counter Shy is going to be very hard to beat, hence the suggested way of backing my selection.

I do think If The Cap Fits 2.10 Exeter is a decent horse, he is very short odds and faces a danger in Enniscoffey Oscar who beat him last time they met in a bumper, so it will be a good race to watch, both could well be good horses to follow this winter.

Good winner yesterday at Leicester, Just In Time winning at 5/4 returned, he hit the front a bit too soon (mentioned by his jockey in interview) but managed to repel the challenge of the second to win by a neck, they pulled 7l clear so it was a fair performance I think.

In a field of five runners, the only dangers to my selection are Chitu, who is the favourite, and a clear round of jumping.  Gibson Park has shown a similar level of form as Chitu over hurdles, both were rated pretty close.  Today is a Novice Chase, Chitu has experience of winning over fences, but has to give a lot of weight away, and I think it will swing the balance in favour of my selection. Gibson Park has been consistent for his stable and looks the type to do well over fences.  The other three in the field are needing vast improved form to trouble the front two in the betting.

Horse: Just In Time

Time: 1.50 Leicester

Current Odds: 6/4

This horse has shown improved form as a three year old.  He was second to the useful Bolder Bob  on his first run this year, then won his last two races.  He has an 8lb raise for his last win, but I think he can defy the raise back on turf,  after his win on the all weather track last time.  He has form on a soft surface.  Of his rivals, Sporting Times ran well last time and should handle the ground, he has a chance as does Fibonacci, who won a weak race last time, but won well and underfoot conditions should not be a problem.

I watched a bit of the Ireland v Wales match last night, it was a close match, and I thought that either team could of got through if they had took a few more risks.  Credit to Ireland for making the play offs.  As for England qualifying, its good to get through, but it was a weak group, and I am unconvinced they will get far,  especially if they play like they did against Lithuania !

Some Reign ran well to be second yesterday, small profit with each way.  He was beaten by a decent horse, I think they are both horses to follow, as they were 24l clear of the third.

This filly ran well on debut when finishing a close 5th.  She can improve and in a fairly open maiden is a bit of value at her odds.  The favourite Buffer Zone is trading around evens, he has fair form in maidens, but not sure he is an even money shot on what he has shown so far.
