Having his first run on a synthetic surface should not pose a problem to this useful handicapper.  He wears cheekpieces, which will hopefully help him focus again today on his first run of 2018.  His last run when second at Newmarket was a very good effort, he will be fit and with his stable in good form, he will be difficult to beat.  Of rivals, Maratha has been running well all winter, he looks the main threat.  Fire Fighting usually runs to his best when ridden by Adam Kirby, he is a talented horse who is dangerous if on his top form.

Today looks pretty tough, Wetherby has been called off, two meetings on the all weather in the U.K. and Dundalk on the all weather , Fontwell is going ahead as the only jump meeting, I have looked at the bumper at Fontwell as Gwallia is a horse I like, but it looks as though two others are fancied in the race, so at the moment I am not advising a bet.  I will do an update around 3pm with hopefully something worth backing.

A decent winner yesterday, Lord Oberon winning at Southwell, he drifted slightly in the betting to 6/4, but he really showed that previous winning form at the track is key to when having a bet, some horses love the fibresand surface, and he really acts well on it.

Today is unappealing, so no tip.  Tomorrow’s cards look quite interesting as long as they all go ahead.

A course winner on debut over 7f for this horse was a good effort, the horse he beat that day has won since, and the drop back to 6f today should not pose a problem.  He was a bit keen on his latest run over 7f, he was fourth that day and it was still a fair run.  Useful claimer Clifford Lee takes off 3lb, and I think he will be hard to beat.

Of rivals, Jack Naylor has talent, he ran well last time when 3rd to a useful horse, I’m not totally convinced he is straightforward, he carries his head high, and wandered under pressure when second at Chelmsford last year, Royal is hard to assess, his form was in France, although he was beaten in a claimer lately, which is a negative, with proven form on the fibresand Lord Oberon can win this.

Good result earlier with Dotted Swiss winning at Lingfield 2:20, she was advised at 4/1 last night, the race was run with very fast fractions over the first 3 furlongs, setting the race up well for my selection to win well.

Due to the majority of race meetings being abandoned today, I did not have a bet, so apologies for not doing my blog post earlier, but I only arrived in the UAE in the early hours this morning.

I am putting a horse on tonight that runs at Lingfield all weather surface tomorrow, as no problem with soft/heavy ground.

Tuesdays Free tip is as follows:

Horse: Dotted Swiss

Time : 2:20 Lingfield

Current Odds: 4/1

This filly has a bit of value in her price, her form at the track is solid, she is a winner over 6f last year, and then ran second to a fair performer over 5f on her last run.  She looks very honest and can win this off her present mark of 75. She won first time out last year.

Of rivals, Sir Hector is a winner over 5f, he sometimes likes to make the running, but try and slow things up when he does get in front, Warriors Valley could well be the one my selection has most to fear from, a run of decent form lately, winning and a fair second last time at Southwell, that run may well of come a bit soon for him, as it was his third race in about 9 days, freshened up, he is the one my selection has to beat.

A very good day for the Godolphin team at Meydan yesterday.  Both trainers having two winners, with the icing on the cake being Thunder Snow, he won the Dubai World Cup comfortably under Christophe Soumillon, he made almost all the running and stayed on strongly in the straight to score by over 5 lengths.

Today I cannot see anything that inspires me having a bet, so hopefully I willl have something tomorrow.

Blue Point was withdrawn at Meydan.  Pleased to see Jungle Cat win for Godolphin.

A good winner yesterday with Cowboy Soldier doing the business at Newcastle, backed from 9/4 into 15/8, he looks a progressive type.

Today is like any other Saturday, very hard to find a winner !

I think Blue Point will win , he is a class horse. A good run last time when second.  He should be suited by 6f well.

A good result yesterday with Espadrille, she won comfortably at Newcastle, backed into 4/5 from around evens, she is useful and will win again.

This horse ran with a lot of promise last year on his only start, he was a good second over 5f, just beaten that day by an experienced rival.  He should be fine on the surface and the stiff 5f of Newcastle will pose no problems. He can win this race and go on to do well this year.  Of rivals, Black Sails, is talented but has been tried over various trips, she drops back to 5f today, I am just not totally convinced she is genuine, Gowanbuster is a course winner over 6f, he could well be in the mix.
