Today’s free tip is as follows:

Horse:  Winter

Time:  3:05 Curragh

Current Odds:  4/5

Winter is trading around 4/5.  I think this is value as long as we do not have a deluge of rain.  She was very impressive at Newmarket recently when winning the English 1,000 gns.  Aiden O’Brian is a trainer who keeps his horses in great shape, especially the Group horses in his stable, which is numerous.

She is a nap if it stays dry.

Today’s free tip is as follows:

Horse:  Private Mission

Time:  2:55 Haydock

Current Odds: 8/1

Analysis of the race as follows:

Private Mission won over 7f at Leicester last time, he was ridden by Adam Kirby that day who rode him very well to almost make all the running.  Today he has a good 3 lb claimer on him.  Hopefully he can get a nice position from his 10 stall and keep handy and out of trouble.  This is a very competitive 1 mile handicap but I think Private Mission will stay the extra furlong and at 8/1 there is a bit of value, an each way bet is my advise.

Today’s Tips are as follows:

Horse:  Thomas Cranmer

Time:  7:40 Mussleburgh

Current Odds:  9/4

Analysis of the race:

This horse won well last time over course and distance, he is a typical Mark Johnston  type of improving 3 year old.  He will have to step up from last time as he is taking on older horses who are seasoned handicapper’s.  Glengarry is the main threat I believe,  but I will be playing if Thomas Cranmer remains at 7/4 or above !

Horse:  Cheerfilly

Time:  7:10″Mussleburgh

Current Odds: 6/5

Ran very well last time at Chester, she held every chance that day and with normal improvement will be too good for her opponents today, very shrewd stable who like a gamble.

25 May 2017

Yesterday on the update I said Nezwaah was a penalty kick at Ayr 5.20 – she won very easily and I backed her although she was short odds, she was value judging by the way she won!

Today is very difficult, I am not going to advise any horse to back based on that reason.  I have no stand out horses that I can see, lots with chances, but too many dangers to have a good bet.

I will watch racing and may well make an investment, possibly at Sandown tonight, will try and update if I think  anyhting worth mentioning.

24 May 2017

Round up:

Yesterday was a good day with New Agenda winning, 4/6 advised, he won by 19l and was heavily supported into 1/4. He proved value at 4/6, as advised, any winner is a good price!

Please look for my updates, yesterday I updated with Dragon’s Voice  an 8/1 winner at Nottingham, sometimes I don’t decide until very late what to back, it is always prudent to wait if you have an element of doubt about something, especially when gambling, so please have a look for updates if they don’t come through as an email, if you are following my tip’s.

Todays Free Tip is as follows:

Horse: Hello Bertie

Time: 8.50 Southwell

Current Odds: 13/8

Hello Bertie ran a very good race on debut at Perth last month, he finished his race off well and was beaten by two useful more experienced rivals that day.  With normal progression I think he has a good chance of winning today, jockey Brian Hughes is riding very well and his trainer is a shrewd operator.  I think he represents value at 13/8 or thereabout’s.

NB: I may well have an Update later so keep checking for that !

Update:

Nezwaah looks a penalty kick 5:20Ayr. She is short price at  4/6 or around that, she will be very hard to beat.

Today’s free tips are as follows:

Horse: Black Bess

Time: 3:20 Brighton

Current Odds: Evens

3 runner fields can be quite tricky events, I am going to back Black Bess as she has shown the best level of form of late, she won last time and has a small weight raise.  The two other fillies in the race have not been in the best of form of late and I find it difficult to fancy either of them.

Horse: New Agenda

Time: 5:35 Huntingdon

Current Odds: 4/6

I think you have to look if there is value when having a bet, 4/6 is skinny odds, but this is a penalty kick for New Agenda.

Update:

I have had a good message for Dragons Voice in 4;30 Nottingham, I hope you can get this before race time

Round up of previous week:

Nice winner in the week with The Doorman,  hit the crossbar recently with Agent Astronaut 2nd and Forever Friend 2nd today.  I try to look at the positive side when horses I fancy run very close to winning, as it is the small things that happen during a race that can make the difference between winning and losing.  I think Somehow (advised EW at 7/1) will win another Group race or two before the end of the year, probably the step back to 1m in a Group 1, was just beyond her, she never travelled as comfortably as usual, but still ran well to be only 3/4L behind the 3rd horse in finishing 4th.

Today’s tip Forever Friend ran a fair 2nd in the Novice Chase at Towcester, he made a couple of jumping mistake’s, which cost him.  The winner, who I thought was a big threat, jumped very well and I was impressed with the rider Mr J Nailor, he was excellent value for his 7lb riders allowance. Don’t give up on Forever Friend, he will win his races over fences.

With the recent rain, over the majority of the country there has been a number of big priced winners over the last week or so, this evening Perfect Pasture being a prime example by winning the Listed 6f sprint at Windsor at 25/1 for the shrewd Mick Easterby, who has his horses in fine form.

22 May 2017

Todays Free Tip is as follows:

Horse: Forever Field

Time: 4.00 Towcester

Current Odds: 4/5

Analysis of the race:

Forever Field ran a good race at Kempton on May 1st, he jumped well in the main and his jockey today Nico De Boinville was in the saddle at Kempton, as is the case today.  I understand the sun is currently out at Towcester, which is a plus, this horse does not want ground on the soft side of todays going description (Good, Good to Soft in Places).

The obvious danger is Midnight Shot, he won recently at Towcester, he jumped well and made all the running.  My main reason for going with Forever Field is he is getting 7lb from the danger, although Mr J Nailor will take 7lb off the back of Midnight Shot, but the rider lacks experience, he has not ridden much under rules over the last two weeks and that is why I think Forever Field will win.

Todays Free Tips as follows:

Horse: Quick Pick

Time: 5.00 Market Rasen

Current Odds: 5/4

Analysis of the race:

Quick Pick ran a solid race last time when second in a bumper at Warwick, he was denied a clear passage that day but still managed to be a decent second, with the third horse winning its next race at Exeter by over 4l.

Bumper form can be quite difficult to work out ,as a majority of these young National Hunt horses are gaining  an education before racing over obstacles.

I think Quick Pick can win today, with the likely danger being Brecon Hill, he has been running well and is now with Sally Haynes.  I believe she has taken out a temporary license due to the sad death of her partner Alan Swinbank, who had Brecon Hill under his care.

Ride of the week:

Hawkbill was given a good ride to win yesterday at Newbury, this classy horse was allowed to dictate matters from the front under William Buick, with Buick getting the fractions right in rain softened ground.  It was a masterful ride by the Godolphin jockey and I was pleased to see this horse win for my former work colleague, trainer Charlie Appleby.

Yesterdays Tip:

My EW advised bet on Somehow yesterday was just out of the frame in 4th, she was not quite good enough, and will probably appreciate a step up in trip judging on yesterdays fair effort.  I did think Ribchester was a big danger, and it was a good performance by the Richard Fahey trained colt to win.

Update:

Quick Pick is a non runner at Market Rasen today.

20 May

Today’s free tip is as follows:

Horse: Somehow (each way)

Time: 3:30 Newbury

Current Odds: 7/1

Analysis of the race:

Somehow has been in good form in 2017, winning a Group 2 over 9f on her latest start. I think the drop back to a mile today should be within her compass.  The Group 1 Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes is always a very high class race to try and win, as is the case today for Somehow, but I think she is good value each way at 7/1, a number of her rivals have questions to answer, the majority have not run this year and Somehow may have a slight advantage fitness wise.  Her main danger I believe is the probable favourite Ribchester, he has high class form in Group races and has form on a soft surface, he ran a solid race at Meydan in March.
