Horse: Tulip Fever

I liked the way this filly won on her latest run at York.  She is penalised for that win, but I think she will take beating today, my slight concern is Harry Bentley rides today, he did not ride her when she won last time.

I notice showers are forecast in the Bath area,  so as long as the ground does not turn soft, which I think a lot of rain is needed to do that, Tulip Fever should win.

A few other horses are of interest today, Storm Over 7:30 Bath was an easy winner last time, and should win again, but is a bit short in price currently.

I will watch the 2:20 Worcester with interest, Forever Field has promised to win over fences, his two starts over the larger obstacles have been encouraging, but I think his main rival today Black Corton, the likely favourite will be very hard to beat.  Paul Nicholls his trainer found an easy race to win last time for Black Corton, at Fontwell. Today’s novice chase , will be a good race between the two horses.

A couple of horses running today I follow, but I don’t as a rule bet much at Brighton, it is a very unique track, and you can get horses who just do not handle the many undulations, so no bet today.

Today’s Free tip is as follows:

Horse: Ebtkaar

Time: 6:20 Windsor

Current Odds:1/2

This horse ran a solid race in his first start in 2017, he was third on ground possibly not ideal (soft side)  that day, today he has better underfoot conditions and his opponents are at face value mediocre.  Although his odds are short I’m prepared to back him as anything that has raced before who take Ebtkaar on today don’t look good enough.  Keeper’s Choice an unraced filly could be his only threat.

Round up of Royal Ascot:

It was good to see Godolphin have a number of winners over the course of the week at the Royal meeting.  The whole operation has changed a lot since I worked for them, now they have numerous trainers running horses in the Godolphin blue colours, it used to be only Saeed Bin Suroor who had runners in those blue silks.  Saeed had a nice winner in a group 3 race, and it was good to see Charlie Appleby have some success with his horses including wins for Rare Rhythm and Sound and Silence, who is a very fast two year old.

But the Aiden O ‘Brian stable once again dominated the major races, Winter and Caravaggio both winning well in Group 1 races, he has his horses in great health for the big meetings, he is out on his own as far as leading trainer in Ireland and the UK, and has been for a number of years.

One horse that stood out for his stable and the future was September, she was a convincing winner yesterday in the Chesham Stakes, and looks very useful.

No tip today, a few horses I am interested in but they are a bit short to back currently, I will watch the betting and if value appears could get involved, Symphony  of Angels 2:50 Hexham is very short but it is a poor race and I may yet back him, if value in price appears.

Final day of the Royal Ascot meeting today.  To have a horse good enough to win at this meeting is a major accomplishment, lots of good horses again on show today.

Very difficult to find a winner at Ascot today again ! I am going for a progressive type of two year old in the first race EW.

Horse: Masar

Time: 2:30 Ascot

Current Odds: 13/2

Masar is an Each way bet for me, he beat a horse last time that won easily last night at Newmarket.  Today will be difficult,  as it is a very competitive race, lots of potentially useful young horses in this race.  September trained by Aiden Obrian is highly regarded and will be difficult to beat, but at around 13/2 my tip is a bit of value, he will like the 7f today, as he won over 6f last time, and his stable and jockey are in good form.

Race analysis as follows:

Winter is what I consider a good thing, top trainer, jockey combined with best horse in the race, can’t see her breaking too much sweat !

Horse: Call Me Grumpy

Time: 4:05

Current Odds: 4/9

Race analysis:

I suggest backing this horse in a double with Winter, it works out just over even money, all the jockey has to probably do on this horse is point in the right direction !

 

Good winner yesterday Qemah at Ascot, returned 5/2 so nice price, she is a very good filly.

Horse: Simpson

Time: 1.50 Chelmsford

Race Analysis as follows:

Simpson was a good second at Leicester 17 days ago, he was clear of the third horse that day.  With normal improvement he will be hard to beat, I don’t see the all weather surface today posing too many problems.

A few unexposed rivals in the race, Goldenground ran ok on his debut recently, he could possibly be the main rival today, although Central City has headgear on for the first time and has been running ok in his 3 races so far, and could well show improved form for the application of blinkers.

I am backing Simpson to win.

Lots of good horses on show at Ascot, I am keen on Order of St George in the 4.20.  He won the race last year, and his trainer will have him primed for todays event, I’m just not in love with 5/6 in a very competitive race, but he will be hard to beat.

Second day of Royal Ascot today.  I didn’t have a bet yesterday, my main fancy Churchill was too short to back and was disappointing, he ran below his best, maybe something will come to light about his performance over the next few days.

I am going to have a small each way bet today.  And a win bet on a class filly.

Horse: El Vip

Time: 5:00 Ascot

Current Odds: 8/1

This race is wide open, but my selection is in good form, he is a late finisher, his jockey is probably best known for riding the majority of his horses with waiting tactics, too be honest he is a good jockey but can give the punter heart failure !

Go each way at 8/1 is my advise.

 

Horse: Qemah

Time: 3:40 Ascot

Current Odds: 2/1

Qemah is a classy filly, she was a shade unlucky in her prep run this year, she was second, but never really got into the race until it was all over.  I don’t think she is a good thing but will back her to win for a small stake, as the others in the race are decent.

 

 

Good day yesterday with Lugano, advised at 4/7 winning easily by 4l. This horse could well follow up again if turned out again quickly by his shrewd trainer.

Today is the first day of the Royal Ascot meeting, everyone in horse racing wants to have a winner at this meeting.

I am interested in Churchill 4:20 today, although 4/6 is too short for me to get involved.  His competitors are strong, but I will watch and see how the betting goes, it will be great to watch this race, and I do hope Churchill wins.

Lots of other possible interest bets today, but I am going to watch the markets, and l see if some value appears in a couple of other horses today.

I think Lugano is still ahead of his current mark of 77.  This horse bolted in last time by over 4l, this was only 4 days ago.

His shrewd trainer is well known for getting his horses on winning mark’s, and for them to run up a sequence of wins.  I know he is short odds but for me he will be hard to beat.
