I am finding it difficult to split the front two in the betting, so I am backing Reckless Wave without Inn The Bull.  This mare is a course and distance winner, her jockey won on her last time, she beat Inn The Bull last year on turf, meeting today on similar terms brings them close again.  Of rivals, with the fav out of the equation, Ice Canyon was behind my selection last time, I can’t see a reversal in form, the rest are horses who are not really in good form of late.

No bet today.  Hopefully next week the poor weather that is forecast will not arrive !

Still well in front for this month, hopefully I can end the month with a winner or two next week.

Another Saturday with lots of good racing, once again the most difficult day of the week to find a winner I always think.

A course winner twice, Carouse has changed stables since his recent win, his new trainer is clever and will hopefully have him in good health again today.  He will like the 1 mile trip,and can win again today.

Of rivals, Ghost Serge is top rated, based on grass form, he ran ok last time on his first race on a synthetic surface at Kempton, he looks the main threat. Bobby K is another who is improving with racing.

Horse: Solid Man

This gelding is having his first start in a handicap, he showed promise last year, going off as favourite on his second run, he is stepped up to a mile today,  and it is his first try on an all weather surface.  He should be suited by the trip and can win off his low rating, which is in a poor race.  Fran Berry rides,  and has ridden him on all starts so far.  Of rivals, Odds On Oli has shown enough to win a race, his last run was a bit below par at Southwell, so going back to a similar surface to his decent effort when second at Newcastle will be better for him.

I am going to back Gold Star 6:00 Meydan.  He has gone up slightly in the weights for a recent win at the track.  He is around 2/1, it’s a competitive race, and although not much value in a handicap, I think he can go in again.

Another day of profit yesterday, Casey Jones winning at Newcastle, backed at 11/10, he returned at 4/6 after heavy support.  Smith’s Bay whom I put on the update was a below par 5th, he was a bit keen early in the race, but to be honest he was given no chance from where he was ridden in the race, he was so far back, he made up a lot of ground to get closer, but in soft ground it is very tough on the horse, they use up too much energy, and fail to finish the race off, jockeys have to ride the race to suit the horse, not ride the horse to suit the race !

Current Odds: 2/1

A winner twice at Meydan over 6f and 7f, the step up to 1 mile today should not be a problem to this horse.  He is usually switched off at the rear and finishes well, he can complete the hat trick of wins today.  Of rivals, Footbridge has fair form in USA, his form at Meydan on dirt has been ok, but below his American form, Cappezano could well relish the return to dirt racing, he ran well last winter at the track on the dirt, he could well pose the main threat.

Nice winner with Casey Jones, easy success at Newcastle 4:20.

I am backing Smith Bay 5:00 Doncaster.  He has drifted to 9/4, but I fancy him to win.

Small profit yesterday with Suprematism finishing 3rd at Wolverhampton, backed each way at 7/1.

Current Odds: 11/10

A winner over 7f last time at Newcastle, the step up to 1 mile will not pose any problem to this horse.  He can improve to defy his 3lb win penalty.  Of rivals, Kripke has shown enough ability to win a race, he ran well last time and is the main threat.  Lovely Approach is the unknown, she has a good pedigree and comes from a strong stable.

I will update later around 4.30pm, as I could well have a tip in a later race.

Horse: Suprematism

This horse has improved with racing, he was a good third last time over the course and distance, he had a wide trip early on that day, so as he was not beaten far, it was a good run, he also has a decent 3lb claimer riding, so receives 11lb from the favourite Desert Wind, he is a bit of value ew.  Of rivals, Desert Wind has won twice, he has a double penalty for that, he is obviously going to be hard to beat even with his win penalties, Warburton is unraced, but from a decent yard, he could well be useful, but it’s his first run, so will be inexperienced, Moon Of Baroda was 500,000 as a yearling, he may be anything, his stable has yet to hit any form this year, so it’s a bit of an unknown how he will run.

A good winner yesterday at Ffos Los, Scorpion Sid was a very easy winner, backed at 11/10, he returned at 10/11.  The race went as expected, he made the running and galloped on strong from two out, where Oxwich Bay made a jumping error.

This horse ran really well on his first try over hurdles when second.  He would possibly of won with another 100 yards that day, and as it was only his second race in his life (he ran once on the flat) a lot of improvement can be expected.  He acts on heavy ground and this well bred horse can oblige today on his second run over timber.  Of rivals, Ar Mest is his threat, he was a shade unlucky last time not to win, a mistake at the last possibly cost him that day, if he learns to relax, he is a big danger.
