Shade unlucky yesterday, Boreham Bill was beaten a neck at Fontwell, he drifted right on the run in and gave the race to the winner, not much the jockey could do, as he had his whip in the correct hand when trying to keep his mount straight.

An encouraging run on debut when fifth at Kempton, this horse had experienced horses all in front of him that day, two of them won next time.  He can improve today and win this novice stakes.  He takes on a couple of previous winners again today, with improvement expected he could be a nice prospect. Of rivals, Amplification is his main rival I think, he has a good claimer taking 3lb off, and is another that is potentially smart. Narcos is also a horse that could be smart, he has been gelded since his last run, he won well on debut, before flopping on heavy ground next time, he comes here off a break, but has shown enough to be right in the mix, even though blinkers first time are applied today.

Although quite short odds, this horse won well enough last time at Southwell.  He looks progressive and with his experience he can improve to beat rivals today.  The step up in trip should pose no problem.  He acts ok on a slow surface.  Of rivals, Reikers Island was running well when falling last time, he is a winner of a point to point, although Golden Sunrise is the one to beat I think, he won quite well last time and is improving.

A lot of surprise winners yesterday at Kempton, only one favourite won at the meeting.  A 2/9 shot even got beat. Looking at it with hindsight, it was probably a meeting to have been avoided !

I did notice that a lot of the jockeys went for home on their horses,  a long way from the winning post, and paid in the latter stages of the race.  One jockey who was as good as ever,  was Noel Fehily, he rode with patience, and had 3 winners.

Today has only one meeting, Southwell on the fibresand, I have had a good look, and nothing really stands out for me, so no bet today.

Plenty of rain forecast today in the U.K.  So I am going to look at the Kempton card, where National Hunt horses are running on the flat all weather surface.

This horse won a bumper late last year, he is lightly raced since,  and in a race that sees the whole field racing on a new surface,  in a flat race, it makes the race interesting.  But I think this horse does not want ground too soft, so he will be OK on today’s surface, I think he can return to form today after a below par run at Bangor, which was on very soft ground. Of rivals, Chelsea Flyer has the best hurdle form, and has decent bumper form, he looks like the one to beat.

A good winner yesterday at Lingfield, Encore D’or returned at 2/1 after drifting to 5/2 at one stage.  He is a useful horse over 5f.

Today I have no tip.  Some difficult races at Southwell to work out, so I am just going to watch today.

Another day of turf meetings abandoned.  All three all weather tracks currently have the all clear.

Current Odds: 9/4

Just beaten last time when a good second at the track.  I think this horse can go one better today and win this sprint.  He is well drawn and has the best man on top in Ryan Moore.  Of rivals, Atletico has been running well, he is the main threat, three seconds in a row, sometimes can be seen as not quite wanting the win, but this horse is genuine, he should of won one of those races and was beaten a head last time.  Royal Birth is another that is useful at his best, he is just hard to win with of late.

With the only meeting going ahead today at Southwell, which is National Hunt horses running on the flat , on the all weather surface, I am not having a bet.  A few very short odds favourites, with some who are previous winners on the level on turf, running today, a vast majority are untried on the fibresand surface, so it a day of watching and not getting involved for me.

All meetings cancelled in the UK, the adverse weather has taken its toll.  A good winner yesterday at Wolverhampton, Dubai Acclaim winning well at Even money favourite.

A course winner twice on dirt, he has gone up in the weights, but this honest horse can win again today.  He takes on a few horses he has beat before,  as well as new rivals.  I think he has to be followed on current form.  Of rivals, Saltarin Dubai has been runner up to my selection twice, I think he could well fill the same position today, Alabaster also takes on his old rivals, he is not totally genuine, although he has the ability to be in the mix again today.

Another day of race meetings on turf being called off, the snow has hit most parts of the UK , snow and cold weather here in Guernsey as well. Just all weather racing going ahead at the moment.

This horse has been running well, his last run over 7f was a good one when second, the third and fourth that day have both won since, dropping back to 6f today,  should not be a major concern, he was second over that trip before.  He can win this weak race. Of rivals, VJ Day has shown ability last year on grass, he has been gelded and drops to 6f from his last run over 7f, looking at his pedigree, he should be suited by the all weather surface, and is the one to beat.

Nice to get a nice profit yesterday, Reckless Wave backed at 5/4 without the fav, was a winning selection at Wolverhampton.  Today looks as appealing as the snowy weather outside ! No selection today, hopefully the snow will stop and racing will be ok tomorrow, Catterick was called off today.
