Leading Spirit who I advised to backed  yesterday ( without Legends Of War) was third, the race was a really hot maiden, a lot of horses from big stables were strongly fancied in it.  The winner Legends Of War was very impressive, he still has a fair way to go to pay back his owners Qatar Racing Limited, who bought him for 900,000 gns at the two year old breeze up sales at Newmarket. But it was a good start.   I do think that a lot of winners will come out of this race.

Todays Free tip is as follows:

Horse: Weekender

Time: 7:35 Sandown

Current Odds: 9/4

This colt won well recently at Chelmsford over 14f, he should have no issue with the extra 2f today. With the excellent Frankie Dettori riding again today he can make the jump up in class, and win this Group 3 race. He is a winner (was demoted to second) going right handed at Goodwood last season.  Of rivals, Sheikzayedroad is a useful performer, even though he is 9 years old, he ran well 54 days ago at Meydan (Gp 2) and is a winner over 16f at Ascot.   Mount Moriah who I consider the main threat, and Magic Circle are both useful horses, both have had recent wins, and will be in the mix at the business end. I do advise a saver or half stake bet on Mount Moriah at 100/30(without Weekender).

Nothing solid to back today as yet, I will update around 4:30pm with a possible horse.

Really hope Fregus Gregory will be ok after his horror fall last night at Huntingdon, young lad who rides very well, I read that he is in a stable condition in hospital.   Hopefully he makes a good recovery.

22 May 2018

Update: 8.35pm

My selection at Huntingdon in the 6.10 Spader,  was very badly hampered 5 hurdles from home, how he managed to stay up was a feat in it self, all chance of winning went at that moment, his jockey Harry Skelton  carried on,  but the horse was feeling the effect of being hampered going to the second last hurdle, hopefully he is none the worse, as Skelton accepted that the horse was possibly injured himself.

Unfortunately Fergus Gregory (rider of The Blue Bomber) who was one of the fallers,  was quite seriously injured, to what extent its not clear, his mount was sadly killed.  Racing is currently going on after a 50 minute delay due to an air ambulance being called for the injured Gregory, I understand that Fergus had been knocked out, hopefully he will be ok.

Todays Free tip is as follows:

Horse: Spader

Time: 6:10 Huntingdon

Current Odds: 11/8

A good winner 9 days ago, this gelding is more at home when the ground is riding on the faster side, he had dropped prior to his recent win,  to a low mark (88)  having ran a good second at Kempton last May off 104 when beaten only a head.  I think he can defy his penalty today, for his recent win. His jockey today knows him well, and the yard is in good form, so plenty of positives.  This horse also has decent form going right handed. Of rivals, The Blue Bomber is consistent, acts on most ground conditions, and has a good claimer riding, he looks the one to beat.

Update: 4:25 pm

No bet advised for tonight, I like a couple of horses, unfortunately they are in the same race, and I cannot split them.  With the weather forecast looking dry for a few days, a few horses entered over the week that have been awaiting faster going conditions. So I am be patient.

21 May 2018

Nothing today as yet that looks great value.  I will update later around 4pm,  as a horse running in a later race is of interest, and may be worth backing.

Delighted to see my wife and her fathers horse win easily yesterday at Market Rasen.  Linganno Felice absolutely bolted up by 26L, he jumped well and made all the running.  Hopefully the handicapper will not be too harsh on him, as I think the danger I mentioned yesterday Tayzar ran below it’s best, it was dripping sweat at the  start, (never a good sign) and pulled hard off what was a decent pace, hopefully he will be none the worse, from his below par effort.

20 May 2018

Nothing solid today, I am hoping Linganno Felice can win again at Market Rasen 2:10, my wife has gone to see him run with her father.  He has Tayzar to beat, hopefully the ground is not too quick as it has been dry all week.

Couple of horses entered tomorrow of interest, I think the weather is going to be dry for a few days over most areas in the U.K.

I did not see the Preakness Stakes in USA last night, but read Justify won again, he is a very good horse. A very good friend of mine was in Bob Baffert’s barn before this horse won the Arkansas Derby, (two wins before last night’s win) he said he saw this “beast ” walking in the barn and asked Baffert what it was, because it was huge and all muscle, and had so much presence, Baffert told him, that is ‘Justify’, and said he could be the best horse he has ever trained !!

Todays Free tips are as follows:

Horse: Aurum

Time: 2:40 Newmarket

Current Odds: Evens (without fav)

I am backing this horse without Purser, it’s a small field and I think he can improve to take a strong hand in the finish, he is a course winner, his stable are in form and his jockey won on him last time.  Of rivals, Mutaaqeb is the one to beat with Purser not in the equation.

I am also having a double Aurum (without fav, evens) and Crystal Ocean 2:25 Newbury, 4/7, it works out at just over 2/1.  I think it’s a penalty kick for this horse, he  is classy and will appreciate the step up to 1m 4f today , after a game win over 10f last time at Sandown.

Bit rushed today as I have got to take my son to football !

18 May 2018

Unlucky with Rock Eagle yesterday at Salisbury, he was beaten a head after being allowed to drift left by his jockey, who then decided to give him two or three cracks of the whip with his right hand, further drift left, finally Steward got his stick into the left hand and the horse finished strong to be denied in a photograph! It was simply a very poor ride, from the man on top.

Todays free tips are as follows:

Horse: Warsaw Road

Time: 4:55 Newmarket

Current Odds: 13/8

This horse likes ground on the fast side, he has missed a few recent entries because of the ground being too soft.  He has a good racing weight, was progressive last year and had a run last month on the all weather, where he ran well. I don’t think 1 mile will be too much of an issue, he has won over 7f before, and ran over a mile on debut.   I think he will be hard to beat. Of rivals, Almoreb is honest, although he may be slightly better with some give in the ground, Knight Owl is a winner at the track, he is another that does not want the ground too fast, Roll on Rory will like the fast going, and is a course and distance winner, he could outrun his odds.

Horse: Not That Fuisee

Time: 7:10 Aintree

Current Odds: 1/3

I am putting this horse in a double with Warsaw Road, it makes it almost 5/2, as the only way I see this horse losing is if he falls !
