A very late post today.  Looking at the last two races at Kempton tonight, I thought the last race would go to Storm Melody, currently around 9/4, he could get a good pace to aim at with likely pace setter Pearl Sceptre.

One horse that won today that was impressive was Emitom 1:10 Lingfield, he all but fell at the first flight, it did not effect his performance though, he quickened up well from the last hurdle, the Cheltenham festival was mentioned by trainer Warren Greatrex after the race.  If this horse goes to Cheltenham and jumps like he did at one or two hurdles, he will get lost ! He is talented, but looks as though he needs experience, and learns how to jump a lot slicker, he is still worth following and may run at Huntingdon (Sydney Banks hurdle)  a decent race in the next few weeks.

More later.

Good to give Ornate to followers yesterday.  Today has some good racing for a Monday.  I do think Festival Of Ages could win 6:15 Wolverhampton. Lightly raced he has improved with each run so far, he will appreciate the trip, and acts on the all weather tracks.  Get in The Que could oblige for backers of favourites at Ffos Las 4:15, although the ground is very testing, he may well make his experience count in the deep ground.

More later.

13 January 2019

Hopefully followers backed the two horses I mentioned yesterday.  Shamlahar 6/4 won at Lingfield, and Pour Joie was a good 5/1 winner in the last race at Warwick.

Today at Kelso, Mount Mews 2:05 could take a lot of beating.  Transferred to the Mcain stable after the death of former handler Malcolm Jefferson, usual jockey Brian Hughes knows this horse well, I marked him as one to follow last year, he will need to be sharp, as Kelso fences take a bit of jumping, and it’s a tight race, but he should be good enough. Ornate has a good chance of winning again at Southwell 1:20.

More later.

12 January 2019

Slightly later post today.  Looking at the races coming thick and fast,  I did like the look of a couple in later races, Shamlahar 3:10 Lingfield, this filly has had a couple of runs, and has ran with promise, she could well be good enough today.  At Warwick the last race could well have some nice types in the last race.  A bumper race with no form is hard to work out, Pour Joie may well run well, she has some good breeding on her dam side, an interesting race.  Hopefully the rain stays way, as it is good to see racing on decent ground for this time of year.

10 January 2019

A good winner last night put on for followers.  Creationist was a 5/1 winner at Kempton 5.45.  I also mentioned Spirit Warning as an each way bet, he was second at 11/2, so a tiny bit of profit on him as well.

Today has some good racing in Dubai at Meydan.  Royal Marine is 8/13 with some firms for the 3.40, having his first run on dirt ! I think he is way too short, clearly the best horse in the race, but his form is on turf, he has to prove he is of similar ability on dirt, if he gets in behind and gets some kickback, he may not really like that, stall 7 could well see him get in behind a few horses.  It is a race I will not be getting involved in.

I did think Gold Town 4.50 was a bit more appealing at 7/1 each way.  His stable have started a bit below par at the first meeting last week, but this horse is a course winner, his negative is stall 8, but likely front runner Heavy Metal is stall 7, he is the horse that will start favourite, and is probably the likely one they all have to beat.  The other races at Meydan are ultra competitive, I may have a few quid each way on Original Choice 6.00, at 11/1, although the race is very open with 16 runners.

9 January 2019

Good Winner for subscribers yesterday, Set Piece 5:45 Newcastle won easily, and another Winner today, Lunar Jet(without fav) advised at 11/10 was as I thought a good result 2:45 Doncaster.

Looking at the races at Kempton this evening, the most interesting race is the 4:45.  A  Novice Stakes for three year olds, lots with chances, Creationist is the one at 4/1 that would be of interest to me, Enchanting Man has drifted all day, he is around 4/1, and is certainly a backable price now.

The rest of the races look tough as well.  Spirit Warning is each way odds at 5/1 in the 5:15, he could put up a good show.

More tomorrow.

8 January 2019

I thought I had sent an earlier post, not sure where it has gone, anyway apologies for late second post.  A few races left at Newcastle.  Lorna Cole 6:45 must be very hard to beat , she has done very little wrong in two starts, her experience should be enough for her to win again over the 5f.  The last race at 7:15 is a sprint handicap, very tricky race, Wiff Waff has course form, if I had a bet it would be him, but small stakes.

I was watching Sky new race channel today.  Good to see my old work colleague Laurent Barbarin is working as the French race expert, he worked with me at Godolphin.  Laurent is a good man who’s knowledge will be hopefully helpful for punters and anyone interested in having a bet on the racing.  He knows the French form well and has been working for a number of years on the race channel in France, he advised that Master Dino was a really good horse before he won on Sunday at Plumpton, unfortunately this horse has picked up a small injury, so will be off for a while. Good luck to Laurent, I’m sure he will be a great asset to the new Sky racing.

7 January 2019

Nice to get a good WINNER yesterday for my subscribers, Phoenix Way 1:40 Plumpton did the business, surprised he drifted to 11/8, he was a cosy winner at the line, and looks a useful horse.  I also advised followers that Brandon Castle and One Vision were expected to win, so all round a good day.  One horse to have a look at today for followers is Dashel Drasher 1:40 Chepstow, he has been running well and will like the step back up to 2 miles 3f today.  He ran well over the trip at this track in November, this is a decent chance to get off the mark.  Mussleburgh has decent ground for this time of year today, it could well be a day to follow the favourites! The first race at 12:50 has only two runners, Ontopoftheworld looks a penalty kick, he is one to put in combination bets.

Looking ahead some good racing later in the week, lots of winners !

6 January 2019

Looking at the Newcastle flat meeting today.  I know One Vision is fancied to win on debut 3:00.  It’s no cakewalk though, Kheros is a previous winner and will be hard to beat, and the Gosden horse is another to consider.  At Plumpton, Master Dino makes his British debut, he was a prolific winner in France.  He may well have a fight on his hands today, Knocknanuss is a bold front runner, he may well take some catching on the sharp Sussex track in the 1:10, both horses are around 6/4, Slate House is another  in the race with good hurdle form, he may lack the chasing experience to trouble the front two in the betting. The first race gets under way at 12:40, Brandon Castle is short odds to win, he should be good enough again today.

5 January 2019

Any followers, apologies for late post today.  I had a problem getting online earlier today.  Looking at the remaining races at tonight’s Kempton card.  I thought Wedding Date could well win again 6:45, it’s a race where a lot of rivals have prossibly reached their ceiling regarding their handicap mark, this filly could well be a few pounds ahead of her rivals, and be still on a mark she can win off.  Later on races look quite competitive.

Todays grade 1 race at Sandown the Tolworth hurdle was won by Elixr De Nutz, he is a genuine horse, he held on well from Grand Sancy, I actually looked at this race With a view that the front two in the betting were probably very difficult to beat, and thought the other Paul Nichols horse Southern Storm was  the one to back at 6/4 without the two heading the betting.  Well when the stable jockey chooses wrong, like he did, I don’t feel so bad !

Tomorrow looks interesting, a few horses look worth a bet, I will try and steer followers the right way, hopefully Wedding Date can win the 6:45
