Good fields At Cheltenham today.  Just watching the 2:25 race, I was going to back Rather Be , who just got brought down by the fallers at the third fence from home.  My each way selection for followers is in the 3:30 at the track.  West end Story has top weight, and it is his first run of the season, but I think at 5/1 he has good each way claims.  I also have been very taken by bumper race favourite Royal Illusion 4::00, she has won 2-2, and has a strong chance of getting her hat trick up today.

Some decent races at Uttoxeter, it has been Harry Skelton’s day so far, he has won three races, His mount in the 2:35 Molly The Dolly has a good chance of making it 4 !

16 November 2018

A late post today.  Some good racing today at Cheltenham.  The 2:25 was a competitive Novice Chase, won by Count Meribel, who jumped pretty well and with the fall of White Moon at the last fence( when looking as though he would be in the mix) it was a solid race, Mr Whipped the favourite, ran well to be third, he will improve for that run.

Some shock results at Newcastle jump meeting.  Chozen was an early faller in the 12:30, he was odds on to win, eventually the race was won by 20/1 outsider Free Range, who gave trainer Stella Barclay her first winner.  Rubytwo was 2/5 to win the 2:15, she was a below par 3rd, the winner Archview Sunshine was a massive 80/1 !

Tonights evening meeting at Wolverhampton has some good two year old races.  Ghaly is well regarded by Godolphin, he is short odds favourite to win the 7:15, if he can overcome a poor draw from 9, he will be tough to beat.  The 7:45 is a really interesting race, Metetron was a very easy winner over the track last time, he has a 7lb penalty for the win, if I was having a bet, it would be him without the fav James Park Woods, who will be hard to beat.

Good racing tomorrow, hopefully I can find one to back at decent odds for followers.

15 November 2018

Todays racing was quite good.  I did fancy one at Kempton tonight, as it was backed into odds on favourite, and I had missed the shade of odds against early this morning, I did not have a bet.  As is the norm when you leave one that you think will win and leave it, it won ! The Pinto Kid won by only a neck, and at 8/11 it was just one of them days.

The last few races tonight don’t look appealing, I am surprised that race planning has  two evening meetings Kempton and Chelmsford on the same day, pretty close to each other, and both close to London, I’m sure the crowds will be small.

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s cards, some really good races at Cheltenham, finding winners will be as difficult as ever. Hopefully the weather is dry and we can enjoy the viewing.

14 November 2018

Plenty of rain at the Scottish meeting today.  Ayr looks as though it is very soft/heavy ground.  I was looking at one in a later race, but he wants better conditions, so not getting involved.

Exeter has a really good beginners chase at 3:10 today.  Black Op was very useful over hurdles, he will be expected to win this, but very short odds on chase debut ! Maybe a watching brief, Kildisart was a fair hurdler, he could run well at fair odds. Nayati must have a good chance of winning at 3:40.  Looking at the Kempton card, it looks quite interesting, some races with some potentially nice horses running, notebook at the ready, as a lot of big yards have some choice bred horses making their debut’s.

13 November 2018

A late post today.  I was just watching the evening meeting at Chelmsford, the main race the 5:15 had a blackout about 2 furlongs from the finish.  Thankfully the jockeys and horses all finished off the race ok.  The race was declared void, as the judge could not ascertain what the winner was.  Watching the At The races footage, from the track they said that the horse they believe to have past the post in front was Florencio, but the race was void.  It looks as though it is a mechanical fault with the floodlights.  The remaining races have been called off.  A real shame for racegoers and trainers, owners and jockeys at the track,as you don’t get paid when something like this happens !

Tomorrows racing looks quite competitive at the race meetings.  Hopefully I can find a winner, pretty hard at the present at this time of year, but you have to remain positive !

10 November 2018

Plenty of wet weather around at Wincanton . It’s a shame as I did fancy Verdana Blue , she wants fast ground.  So I will watch her race at 3:00 with interest, it looks competitive.  I will look at tonight’s evening meeting at Chelmsford for a winner, Monumental Man is consistent in the claiming grade at 6:30, he looks to have a good chance of winning again.

It is the last day of the flat on turf today at Doncaster.  Some very open handicap races.  Eirene could be OK on the soft ground and drop down in trip today, she has each way claims at 2:05.

9 November 2018

Late blog today.  I saw a couple of races earlier from Warwick and Fontwell, the heavens opened mid afternoon here in Guernsey.  Strong winds also, not too sure how much rain is falling at tracks in the U.K. , so I will wait for the morning weather forecast in the morning, if I am going to have a bet.  Looking at the later races this evening Mossy’s Lodge 7:15 is a course and distance winner, under lady rider Paula Muir he could get another win tonight, course form at the Northern track is very important.

I will try and give a free tip tomorrow.  Hopefully it will be at generous odds, winners are pretty hard to find on the flat currently.

It was good to see Kalashnikov win his first run over fences today at Warwick 2:00.  He jumped well in the main, slight peck at one fence down the back straight, but it pretty much went to plan I think, he looked as though he had a fair amount in hand.

7 November 2018

Heavy rain at Nottingham, the ground has changed to soft, it looks as though it is hard work at the track.  So looking for anything that has form with give in the ground is advised at the track. I think I will be watching only.  Some quite good racing at Mussleburgh over jumps, Normal Norman won well last time, he should be hard to beat in the 1:50.

More later.

6 November 2018

Hopefully followers backed the horses I mentioned on here yesterday.  Zoffany Bay was a good winner at Plumpton yesterday, he jumps well, and can win again.  I mentioned that I thought Cross Counter had a live chance in this mornings Melbourne Cup, given a good ride by Kerrin Mckevoy, he managed to win.  An excellent result for Charlie Appleby and the Godolphin operation.

Looking at today’s cards, I see the ground is on the quicker side at Exeter (Jumping) today.  Crooks Peak is short odds at 1:30, he looks the one to beat, but bit short to bet !

At Wolverhampton, I thought This Girl was the one they all have to beat in the 3:25.  She ran well on her first run this season, and should be fine on today’s all weather surface.

More Later.

5 November 2018

Looking at today’s meetings, Hereford and Plumpton are both jumping, and Kempton twilight card is on the level.  At Plumpton, where the ground looks like being pretty quick, Zoffany Bay has his second run over hurdles today at 1:30.  He was a good second last time at Exeter, this flat winner jumped well on debut and would be my idea of the winner of this maiden hurdle.  Kempton has some nice fillies running in the 4:30, it looks hard trying to split the pair Watheerah and Fabiolla, they both ran very good debut races, I slightly prefer the former, who has champion apprentice Jason Watson riding, he rode a Group 1 winner yesterday in Italy for Luca Cumani on God Given at Cappenelle.

Tomorrow morning is the Melbourne Cup in Australia, a number of horses from the UK and Ireland are trying to win the £2.3 million pot, Cross Counter is only 3, he must run well, although his draw is not ideal.  With only 8 stone on his back, He has an excellent rider on top in Kerrin Mckevoy, who will be hoping to win the race again for his former employers Godolphin. It is a race that looks very open, 24 runners over 2 miles, you need a lot of luck in running, they race very tight in Australia, so the riders have to be brave !
