Horse: Rantan

Time: 3:40 Haydock

Current Odds: 9/4

This horse ran quite well on his 2017 debut, he has been dropped by the handicapper for that run, likes soft ground, and has run well at Haydock last year.  I am not a maximum bet person on certain races, usually sprints, this race is a 6f sprint,so I will be having a bet on Rantan, although not a maximum bet !

Pleased to see the horse I put on the update Inexes won yesterday at 3/1. Please try and watch for my updates.

Race Analysis as follows:

High Expectations has form on a soft surface, he won gamely last time, so is in good form.The ground will be testing today so you need to be able to have proven form on similar conditions.

A few non runners in the race, hence the price 5/4, but I’m going to back him.

Update:

I have strong fancy for  Inexes  4.40 Hamilton, lots of horses withdrawn from race due to soft ground, around 3/1, but likes the soft ground.

Nice winner on my Update yesterday, Jedi Master  8/15 returned, I advised as a penalty kick at Thirsk 2:30.  I always think any winner is a good price !

My other tip Mancini at Windsor was 2nd, returning at 3/1, he was 9/2 when I backed him ew as advised, so a profitable day.

Analysis of the race as follows:

This horse won under today’s rider Finley Marsh last time in an apprentice race.  He runs off the same handicap mark today,  as it was an apprentice race last time, plus today Finley can claim his 7lb allowance, as today’s race is not for apprentice riders only.

This horse has been running consistently of late, which can not really be said about today’s rivals. Any rain should not deter his chances, as he acts on any ground judging his previous races.  5/6 is short, but I see a bit of value, essential when having a bet.

Time:  6:40 Windsor

Current Odds:  9/2

Analysis of the race as follows:

Mancini ran quite well last time on his debut, he will improve for the experience and  I think in a maiden auction race he contests today, that is not overly strong, he can run a big race at a decent price.

Steaming is odds on fav at the moment,  he will be hard to beat, but  trading at around 9/2  for Mancini represents some value.  Richard Kingscote rides Mancini, he is a very talented rider and his trainer is very shrewd, so a lot of boxes are ticked !

Jedi Master 2:30 Thirsk is short price, but penalty kick !

Great racing yesterday at Epsom,  I thought one of my EW tips was going to win until very late in the Derby, only to be swallowed up close home by Wings Of Eagles.  At least with each way on both Cracksman and Cliffs Of Moher there was a small profit on the race.

NO Tip today, it looks difficult and although there are a few horses running that I have marked up , competition is strong,so I’m not having a bet.

Good results yesterday with Enable winning at around 7/1.  She won well in the end, it looked as though the favourite Rhododendron was going to be a big threat when making her move about 2 fulongs out, but Frankie Dettori asked for more from Enable and she basically outstayed the second to win by a wide margin.

On my update I gave a winner from Catterick, Beach Break winning easily at 6/4 returned, he was around 7/4 when I backed him.

Today is Derby day, I think it is a very open race this year.  Usually in the Classic races one horse usually stands out from the rest, but not today.  I am going to back two horses in the race.

Todays Free tips as follows:

Horse:  Cracksman (Each Way), Cliffs Of Moher (Each Way)

Time:  4:30 Epsom

Current Odds:  5/1, both horses.

Race analysis as follows:

Cracksman won at Epsom recently, he lacks a bit of racing experience, but I think this horse with his previous course experience has shown that he can handle the track, which is important. He finished his race off very well that day and should stay the extra two furlongs today.  His jockey is on a high after yesterday and the stable are in great form.

Cliffs of Moher is a big danger, that is why I am backing him as well.  He won his trial at Chester, his trainer is a master at training this type of horse and I think he will improve a lot from Chester.  He galloped right through the line when winning his trial over an extended 1 mile 2 furlongs, he looks sure to stay today’s 1m 4 furlongs, so I can’t leave him out.

Horse : Bustam

Time:  6:10 Newcastle

Current Odds:  4/5

Race analysis :

This horse was very unlucky last time when second, it was not jockey Jason Hart’s finest hour, he should of won.  Today his odds are not generous, but I’m still going to play.  The 4lb he receives from his main danger Guzman tilt’s the scales in favour of my tip.

Decent winner yesterday at Lingfield, Rotherwick won easily by a wide margin.

Today it is the Oaks and the Coronation Cup at Epsom.  The horse I am going to have an interest bet on each way is as follows.

Horse:  Enable

Time:  4:30 Epsom

Current Odds:  7/1

This filly won her trial well at Chester, she should improve for that race as well.  Slight drift in price is probably because of the strong support for the favourite Rhododendron who is a massive danger.  I am going to go each way with Enable because I think the favourite is a bit short and 7/1 represents a bit of value going for John Gosden trained filly.

Update:

I think Beach break is worth backing, 3:35 Catterick , he is around 7/4.

 

Good end to day yesterday.  I put My Renaissance up on the update, I advised each way as he was trading around 7/1, returned 17/2 so that was very nice.

I backed another winner last night without the favourite, Excellent Sunset.  It was a late decision so did not get time to put on the blog.

Current Odds:  6/5

Race Analysis as follows:

Rotherwick ran quite well last time and will improve for that run.  As the race is down to only 4 runners now it could be a bit cat and mouse between jockeys.  I really like David Probert, he is good rider, although all the jockeys in this race are decent.  I believe Rotherwick will win, Red Rannagh could be the main threat, although he is far from straightforward.

Horse:  Cape Peninsular

Time:  8.40 Chelmsford

Current Odds: 11/8 (without Fav, Betfair)

I think the 11/8 without the Fav is good value on Betfair  sports book.  It is hard to split Celebration Day and Cape Peninsular in this event, so I am advising the bet without the Fav.

Bad Ride:

William Buick gave Gymnaste a poor ride last night at Kempton, I think this filly would of very likely beaten the winner.   If Buick had used his brain and been a bit braver !

I know it is easy watching, but Buick is supposed to be a top rider, he recently received a ban for a riding offence at York, maybe this was in his mind.  William needs to watch this ride a few times and try to keep things a bit simpler in future !
