Second day of Royal Ascot today.  I didn’t have a bet yesterday, my main fancy Churchill was too short to back and was disappointing, he ran below his best, maybe something will come to light about his performance over the next few days.

I am going to have a small each way bet today.  And a win bet on a class filly.

Horse: El Vip

Time: 5:00 Ascot

Current Odds: 8/1

This race is wide open, but my selection is in good form, he is a late finisher, his jockey is probably best known for riding the majority of his horses with waiting tactics, too be honest he is a good jockey but can give the punter heart failure !

Go each way at 8/1 is my advise.

 

Horse: Qemah

Time: 3:40 Ascot

Current Odds: 2/1

Qemah is a classy filly, she was a shade unlucky in her prep run this year, she was second, but never really got into the race until it was all over.  I don’t think she is a good thing but will back her to win for a small stake, as the others in the race are decent.

 

 

Good day yesterday with Lugano, advised at 4/7 winning easily by 4l. This horse could well follow up again if turned out again quickly by his shrewd trainer.

Today is the first day of the Royal Ascot meeting, everyone in horse racing wants to have a winner at this meeting.

I am interested in Churchill 4:20 today, although 4/6 is too short for me to get involved.  His competitors are strong, but I will watch and see how the betting goes, it will be great to watch this race, and I do hope Churchill wins.

Lots of other possible interest bets today, but I am going to watch the markets, and l see if some value appears in a couple of other horses today.

I think Lugano is still ahead of his current mark of 77.  This horse bolted in last time by over 4l, this was only 4 days ago.

His shrewd trainer is well known for getting his horses on winning mark’s, and for them to run up a sequence of wins.  I know he is short odds but for me he will be hard to beat.

My each way selection Smart Together ran well yesterday, third at 16/1 returned, so nice profit.  Unsure what happened to the odds on favourite in the race, she ran below her best.

Race analysis as follows:

I think this horse although very short has only to jump as he normally does when previously running, and he wins.  Only 3 runners in this race, the danger Kayf Blanco has to prove himself over fences, he was not convincing at Huntingdon on his first try over the lager obstacles, eventually falling quite early in the race.  So I think penalty kick for my selection, possibly without a goalkeeper !

Unlucky yesterday with One Minute beaten a nose , she slightly drifted left inside the last two furlongs which cost her the victory.

Today is quite tricky, lots of good racing both flat and jumping, I have nothing solid today but may have a small investment each way on Smart Together in 3:05 Newbury, I don’t think she can beat the odds on favourite, but at 11/1 I am tempted to play as she is a filly that looks progressive, and is with a top stable.

I mentioned recently that William Buick gave a horse Gymnaste, an awful ride at Kempton when finishing second.  I think he must have read my blog !

Credit to William he has  been riding very well of late, and the ride he gave GK Chesterton when winning at Epsom recently,  was exceptional.

I don’t usually like odds on fav’s, unless some value.  This horse bolted in last time.  She takes on a few unexposed horses from decent stables today over the minimum trip of 5f , with the aid of the run she has had already, I expect her to have an advantage over today’s rivals, so will play at short odds.  Onefootinparadise with useful apprentice David Egan on top, may run well at big odds in this race.

Yesterday my tip Polly’s Pursuit won very easily by 18l, and was value at short odds.  I always believe any winner is a good price!

Race Analysis as follows:

This is race that is a penalty kick for Polly’s Pursuit. It is basically her race to lose, the main danger is Don’t tell Val, who for me is the only real danger to my selection getting beat. The odds are short, but I will play.

Lots of horses with chances who I have been following, but plenty of dangers as well, so only the one bet so far today, I may back another horse later today, I will try and update if possible.

Current Odds:  4/5 (without Favourite)

This horse ran really well on his debut, he was not beaten very far by a horse who had the run of the race, and had been to the races before. The horse made favourite Buridan was recently purchased for over £350,000, and has been backed heavily most of the day. My recommendation is a without the favourite bet at 4/5.

Horse: Cobalty Isle

Time:  6.30 Windsor

Current Odds: 3/1

Cobalty Isle ran a very eye-catching debut, just beaten when finishing a close second. I think he has a good chance of going one better today, the probable favourite Mudallel pulled hard last time and drops back to 6f today, he raced over 1 mile last time so has something to prove today , in a maiden that does not look overly strong, I think Cobalty Isle has a good chance of winning , I have also had a small double on my two tips.
