Caravaggio was a shade unlucky last time when only 4th in the July Cup, the horse supposed to make it a strong gallop to help him, simply did not go fast enough, enabling Harry Angel to set reasonably steady fractions early in that race, and kicking off the front to win. Today I think will be more suitable to my selection, it is half a furlong further, which should suit, and Intelligence Cross could make it a strong gallop, which should bring Carravagio’s ‘A” game to the table ! Ryan Moore knows this horse well, and I think he can win.

Nice winner yesterday, Myboyhenry winning at Musselburgh at 9//4 returned.  I will try and put a late tip on today, I’m travelling so will be quite difficult !

Nice winner yesterday, Doublet advised at 15/8 won well at Epsom, he was heavily backed ending up at 5/6.

Today is quite hard, once again ground concern at many of the racecourses in the UK, lots of interesting races, as always I am cautious when betting on very soft ground.

Horse: Myboyhenry

Time: 6.10 Musselburgh

Current Odds: 9/4

I liked the way this horse won last time, over course and distance.  He looks type to keep progressing, and his trainer Karl Burke’s horses are flying at the moment.  Collateral has the form to be a threat, with a couple of unraced newcomers from big stables, who could well be useful, but I am backing my selection, who has a decent apprentice in Clifford Lee riding, he won on him last time, so know this horse well.

After the downpour of rain yesterday, especially at Goodwood, big outsider won the Group 1 Sussex Stakes.  To be honest I thought the ride of William Buick was very strange, he seemed to stop riding Ribchester about 2f out, for what reason only he knows why!  He then decided to give his horse a smack with the whip,  as the two who had passed him seemed to be treading water inside the last furlong, Ribchester rallied and was only denied by a neck at the line.  I think he should of won, it was a major error as I see it, especially when £550,000 was at stake for the winner !

Back to today: My Free Tip as Follows-

Horse: Doublet

Time: 6.55 Epsom

Current Odds: 15/8

This horse won well last time, acts on the track, which is important at Epsom.  He has a 7lb penalty, but with Sylvester De Souza on top, I expect him to make all the running, and keep going up the home straight to win. Couple of decent opponents, Guvenor’s Choice probably the main threat.

Lots of rain at Goodwood.  I am going to watch, I may have a few small bets on outsiders because of the rain.

Pouring rain here in Guernsey at the moment.  I will try and put a tip up later, just watching changes/updates in going at the race meetings today.

Mildenberger gave a small profit at 11/2 advised for an each way investment, he ran well.  He was well supported in the betting, finishing up at much shorter odds.

Big Orange ran well, just worn down inside the last furlong by an improving 3 year old, having to give 14lb to Stradivarius was just to much.

Big Orange is top rated, course and distance winner, and is coming into the race from his win in the Ascot Gold cup last month.  Frankie Dettori who missed the ride at Ascot due to injury, is back on board today.  A lot of boxes are ticked, so I am backing him.

I am interested in the 2.25 Goodwood, it has some decent two year olds running.  Lots with chances, some will lose their unbeaten record today.  Mildenberger at around 11/2 has a decent chance, he could be worth a small each way investment if he remains at those odds.

Horse: Cosa Nostra

Time: 1.30 Ayr

Current Odds: 6/4

This horse ran well last time when 2nd behind a useful horse, that was over 6f, today its 7f.  I do not see the step up in trip a problem, and think he can overturn the favourite Bustam.

The favourite has talent, but is quirky, so at his short odds I am willing to go with my selection.

Ulysses ran a good race to be 2nd at 9/1 returned yesterday, so bit of profit in the each way bet.  Enable who I mentioned as the big danger won very well, she is a special filly.

Al Hajar my other fancy  at Newmarket was unlucky, finished off his race strongly to be denied by a nose at the line.  I think it was a very average ride by Martin Lane, he sat too far back in a slowly run race, he asked far too much of his horse, who ended up having a quite hard race on his debut.

He made another error later in the day, he was second on Don’t Give Up, who should of won as well, to be fair Atzeni on To Dibba who was 3rd in the same race,  rode a poor race as well.   The winner ridden by Tom Marquand stole the race from the front, a very good ride by a jockey riding full of confidence.

No tip advised today.  I hope Qemah wins at Deauville 2.55.  I backed this filly when she won last time, and put her up as a free tip, its tough race today as she has a new jockey on her, so hopefully he can steer her to victory.

Its difficult today with lots of ground changed/changing with rain.  Pouring here in Guernsey at the moment.

Al Hajar 2.15 Newmarket, currently around 5/6 is racing for the first time, but he has been backed as though defeat is out of the question.  I did back this horse last night at odds against, expecting he can win today, before progressing to better races.  It is important to win your maiden with this type of colt, as he was an expensive purchase as a yearling, at over £200,000 !

Although one horse in this race cost over £400,000 (Slipstream) so it will be interesting to see how he goes as well.

The big race of the day at Ascot at 3.35 looks to be a cracker, Ulysses looks a bit of value around 7/1 (each way), I will watch a bit of racing and see the information/times from previous races,  before having a possible investment on him.

Enable looked very good when winning two Group 1’s recently, she gets a stone in weight from a lot of decent older horses, her jockey Dettori will be riding at his minimum weight on her.

She looks a big danger, if she handles the ground, although 5/4 is narrow, in such a high quality event, with a number of decent horses to beat.
