In a small field , three of them are closely matched on form over hurdles.  My selection was unlucky not to win last time when falling two from home, that was over 3 miles, the drop back in trip to 2m 3f should not pose to many problems, he is a strong traveller and I think he has a good chance of winning today.  As mentioned two rivals  Dolkos and Sternrubin have decent form and the latter ran a good race last time when second.

Some good racing at Ascot today and some interesting races to watch, Michael Owen the former top footballer rides Calder Prince in the 12.15 Charity race, he looks a lot better on a football pitch than he does on horseback, on what I have seen of him riding, but hats off to him for giving it a try, hopefully he has a safe ride and enjoys it.

Nice winner yesterday at 6/1, Soldier In Action made all the running and won gamely last night.

A short price but this horse won well last time, he was ridden by today’s jockey that day, so he knows him well.  A rise in his handicap mark for the recent win, but a few of his rivals have question marks.  Burcan was second last time in a claimer, he had a great chance that day at the weights, and still wasn’t quite up to it, it was a below par effort.  Diodorus could be more of a threat, recently bought out of a top stable, he won in Dundalk on his last start, but that was a long time ago, so has to prove himself for his new connections.

I could well update later with a horse tonight at Chelmsford, probably after 4pm.

Horse: Soldier In Action

This horse has top weight but rarely runs a bad race, he has a good each way chance for me tonight.  He ran well last time in a listed race, he should be a bit better tonight over the extra trip.  A few with chances of his rivals, Royal Reserve has been running consistently of late and Rock Steady has been lightly raced this year and should be fitter for his recent run on grass.

Nice to get a winner yesterday, backed at around 4/9 , although short odds Tommy Silver won easily, and is a useful horse.

Although carrying a penalty for his win recently, I think my selection can follow up. He likes the all weather surface and a few winners have come from the race he won.  Rhode Island looks the likely main threat, he ran ok on his debut, but needs a lot of improvement to win today.

At Fakenham in the 12:50 I think Occasionally Yours at around 7/4 will be hard to beat, only two rivals. He should win this seller.

Although very short odds , it’s a penalty kick as I see it for this horse. Only three rivals, two are not good enough to win as I see it.   The only one who looks a possible threat is Cultivator who was a useful hurdler, but he  jumped poorly on his first run over fences and will need to put in a better round of jumping before he can be taken seriously as a chaser.

Le Prezien ran a good third yesterday, so ew was ok.  The ground at Cheltenham looks as though it will be testing today, I was going to select a horse at todays meeting, but will watch because of the heavy rain they have had.

The novice chase today  1.50 Cheltenham, has River Wylde and North Hill Harvey competing, it will be a good race to watch. So no strong tip as yet, I may update around 2pm with something.

In a competitive handicap I think having ran a good second last time to Foxtail Hill, who he meets again today, my selection can have a good chance each way.  He will need a bit of luck in running as a lot of runners, but has a good jockey and the trainers horses are in form.  Lots with chances in this open handicap, Double Treasure could run well at big odds.

At Lingfield 11:55 I think Gaudi should win , he is around 11/8, in what looks an ordinary maiden.

A good card of racing today at a number of different tracks.  Cheltenham has some good horses running over hurdles and fences.  The 2:25 race looks as though it will be a cracker, although a small field, some good horses racing, Finian’s Oscar has a penalty for a recent win although he has a very promising horse to beat in William Henry who receives 8lb, not sure on how that will go.

She is a short price, but was impressive last time when a course winner, she should improve and be too good for today’s rivals.  Her rivals have been in fair form, Crimson Rosette won last time on turf, her only run on all weather before was disappointing, so not convinced she is as good as on turf.  Top weight Canberra Cliffs is considered a danger, she rarely runs a bad race, and is the main danger I think.
