2 February 2018

I was very disappointed with the ride of Derrynane today at Catterick, his jockey Lorcan Murtagh is a conditional rider, who is learning his craft, but he has ridden a few winners , so it’s not that he has no experience of race riding, having ridden winners before.  But Murtagh gave the horse a mountain to climb, it was simply a bad ride, the horse did well to be second ! Derrynane can win again, as he should not get raised by the handicapper.

I am putting two horses on tonight, as both are running at Lingfield on the all weather track, so no going change likely.

Saturday tips are as follows:

Horse: Author’s Dream

Time: 1.25 Lingfield

Current Odds: 11/4

This horse is a course winner, has the same jockey riding him again, and will be hard to beat.  He has been allowed to use himself the last two times he has won, and has showed a lot of improvement for it.  Of rivals, City Dreamer has been in good form over hurdles, and has Ryan Moore riding, but its a flat race, and he has broken a blood vessel in the past, so I am not with him, Ardamir is a horse with ability, but is not the most honest horse in training, I think my selection is good value to win again.

Horse: Victory Bond

Time: 3.05 Lingfield

Current Odds: 6/5

Joint top rated in this listed event, Victory Bond has the excellent Ryan Moore riding,  and comes here off a good win at Wolverhampton, he was second on his last visit to Lingfield, when he was unlucky, as  he didn’t get a clear run that day, although he finished the race off well.

Of rivals, Elbereth has some good form on grass, and has won on a synthetic surface before.  She is having her first run for a while, so will probably improve for the run, although she has ran well when coming off a break. Utmost is another who could well be a danger. Having shown fair form on an all weather surface before.

2 February 2018

Two winners out of the three I advised yesterday.  Both winners were backed , with Ray Purchase (advised 6/5) heavily backed into 8/15 ! I always bet with best odds guaranteed firms as it makes sense, I realise sometimes exchanges can sometimes offer bigger odds, but over a period of time I think it works out better for me with BOG betting.

Todays Free tips are as follows:

Horse: Luckofthedraw

Time: 1:10 Chepstow

Current Odds: 5/1 ew

Having his first run over hurdles today , this gelding has been showing promise in bumpers, he will act on the ground and will be well schooled for this race, each way he is a bit of value.  Of rivals, Don’t Ask has the best form over hurdles, he has a penalty for his win, will act on the ground and will be difficult to beat.  Marley Firth was very disappointing on his last run, he is better than that run, but I don’t like backing horses off a poor run.

Horse: Derrynane

Time: 4:35 Catterick

Current Odds: 4/5

A course winner last week, over 2 miles.  I don’t see the extra distance today being a problem, he likes the ground and his claiming rider takes off 5lb,  off the 7lb penalty he has for that recent win.  He will be hard to beat.  Of rivals, Persied has dropped in the handicap, he has a chance on his form of old, he looks the one to beat.

Update: 3.50pm

Two good winners earlier with Ray Purchase & Benbatl both winning well.  I am backing Dbai in the 4.50 Meydan, he is upped in class today, but has won well recently and can win again.  He is around 2/1.  Of rivals, Noah From Goa is probably the main danger, he is from a good stable, whose horses are known to improve for a race, this horse having been third on the track recently.

31 January 2018

I am putting the tips on this evening as very little chance of the ground changing at Southwell, and Meydan in the UAE is not expecting rain.

Thursdays Free tips are as follows:

Horse: Benbatl

Time:  3:05  Meydan

Current Odds: 11/10

This horse in genuine and a recent winner at the track.  He has beaten four of his rivals before, when he won last time.  He should improve for that run, and his jockey has won on him before.  I think he can follow up, and win this Group 2 event.

Of rivals, Bravo Zolo has been showing good form at the track, he possibly has his best form over 7f-1mile, although a winner over the 9f trip he tackles tomorrow, it was in a much easier grade. Earnshaw and Light The Lights are others with useful form, but need to improve to beat my selection.

Horse: Ray Purchase

Time: 2.40 Southwell

Current Odds: 6/5

A winner at the track, which is a big positive at Southwell, he was a good second recently, to a horse that won today, so the form has worked out.  He has a good chance of winning again.  Of rivals, Istanbul Pasha has fair form, but finished behind  Ray Purchase when racing against him at Southwell recently, he is possibly the one to beat again.  Shades Of Mist has shown ability to win at the track, he has a chance to be in the mix.

I will do an update around 3:45 pm with a horse in a later race of interest, I am just looking at some information.

Todays Free tips are as follows:

Horse: Vale Of Kent

Time: 4:40

Current Odds: 4/7

I think this horse will win.  Very useful first run, although short priced, he is one to put in a double with my next selection. It’s hard to see a real threat, Dubai Acclaim is capable of winning a race, but I can’t see him beating Vale Of Kent, Lumi is unraced, she is the unknown, it will be interesting to see if she gets any support in the betting.

Horse: Windsor Cross

Time:5:45

Current Odds: 6/5

I am putting Vale Of Kent in a double with this horse, it is then works out as just over a 5/2 bet.  Windsor Cross won well last time, he likes to bowl along and can win again, he wears a visor, but looks honest enough. Course form at Newcastle is a good trend, and he will hopefully make the running and not get caught. Of rivals, How Bizarre could be the main one to beat, he tries a synthetic surface today for the first time, he could improve for the switch off grass.  The British Lion has had a few chances, he may well find one or two too good again today.

30 January 2018

Update:

Hopefully Senatus will be OK , pulled up in a flat race is never good, and I just heard on the Tv that he was being loaded into the horse ambulance , I don’t know if he got injured by the horse next to him in the stalls as it was thrashing around when it dislodged its jockey when refusing to jump out of the stalls.

I am not backing the horse at Lingfield i was looking at, as the ground is heavy ! More tomorrow.

30 January 2018

Nice winner on the updated message yesterday.  Technological was a very easy winner by 6L at Wolverhampton last night. Hopefully I can end the month on a high !

Todays Free Tip is as follows:

Horse: Senatus

Time: 1.40 Southwell

Current Odds: Evens

A course winner last time when winning cosily, my selection can follow up today under his 6lb penalty.  He has the same jockey today, and proven ability to handle the fibresand surface is a positive trend at Southwell.  Of rivals, Cousin Khee acts on the surface, he looks like the one to beat, he has been running better of late, and was second recently at the track, I just think he won’t be good enough to beat Senatus.

I will update a message around 1.45pm, as I like a horse running at Lingfield, more later.

29 January 2018

Update:  2.15 pm

Tossapenny got beat a nose, not having the rub of the green in photos at the moment !

I am backing Technological 7.00 Wolverhampton, currently 7/4.  Danzay could be the danger, he was below his best last time, if he runs to his best he is a threat, I just think Technological can win this, he slightly gave the race away last time when finishing second, hopefully he can put that experience to use and make amends today.

28 January 2018

Good winner today at Sedgefield, Blottos was a comfortable winner, he was backed and went off at 11/8, he was advised when 15/8.

I am putting the blog post on this evening , I will do an update around 2pm tomorrow as two horses in a later races are of interest, and may be worth a bet.

Mondays Free tip is as Follows:

Horse: Tossapenny

Time: 1.40 Hereford

Current Odds: 6/4

This horse was a good second last time out at Southwell.  He would of won with another few strides, that was over 2 miles.  He should be fine over the extra distance (almost 6f) and in a novice that could well have some future winners in it, I think this horse is difficult to oppose. New jockey tomorrow, but at least it is good replacement in Leighton Aspell.  Of rivals, Rambling Rector was a winner of a point to point, before a tame effort in a bumper, he can be expected to show more, Aptly Put has shown ability and could well be in the mix.
