Late blog post today.  Just heard on At The Races that Lady Aurelia has been retired.  She was a lightning fast sprinter, did not shine this year on her two runs.  She was awesome as a 2 year old, especially when winning the Queen Mary Stakes at the Royal meeting at Ascot.  She is well bred, so I think all being well this daughter of the excellent Scat Daddy can do well at stud and breed some nice horses.

I was looking at a fair few races recently , lots recorded that I have missed.  One filly I was really impressed with was Goddess. She won by 10 Lengths in Ireland, ridden by Seamie Heffernan, she did her job well, may not of beaten an overly strong field, but was a very easy winner, she is one to look out for over the rest of the flat season.

Rain is needed for most turf tracks.  The ground is getting very quick at most of the tracks, watering is ok, but you can get false patches of ground.  Injuries are the norm at this time of year for racehorses!

Looking forward to some good racing over the latter part of the week.  It was tough trying to find winners at the July meeting last week at Newmarket.  I did not bet that much to be honest.  Made a lot of notes about some of the runners during the week, lots of winners will come from many of the races, a lot of nice horses did not win !

Bath racecourse is one track racing today, not known for watering. If having a bet , you need one that likes quick going ! Unless a downpour arrives.

I have been in the UK over the last few days.  I did not do a blog over the weekend, as I was busy with Newmarket Sales and racing.  Caught up with lots of family and friends over the few days i was in Newmarket.

One thing that I have noticed when on Newmarket Heath is that the standard of lads and lasses riding out, is well below average.  I have mentioned before on my blog that staff in racing, especially Newmarket are in general, average at best !

Lots of racing yard’s are under staffed.  I did hear that one stable had two staff at evening stables one day, with over 70 horses to attend to ! I will not name the trainer,  but he trains in Newmarket.  That is how short staffed many racing stables are. Sadly I am not sure things will get much better any time soon.

I am just about to go and have a look on Newmarket Heath, I was on Bury side of the Heath yesterday mainly.  A lot of horses training, majority using Warren Hill, which is a short canter/gallop of just over 4 and a half furlongs, very stiff over the latter couple of furlongs, it makes horses blow !

I will try and update later.

12 July 2018

A late blog post today.  Busy myself today at Newmarket Sales and then I was racing.  The sales are for a lot of  horses that are not too sound, or bigger yards clearing out stock as the yearling sales in USA are starting soon. The bigger yards need to clear out a few, as you can only train so many horses.  New horses every year from mid July right up until the late Autumn  happen every year for the majority of flat trainers. I believe more than 60/75 horses in training, and you get a lot of average horses, And a lot of headaches !

A few meetings on today.  Ground that’s been watered can sometimes be a bit false, a good grounsman is a must at this time of year !

Wolverhampton has no firm ground worries.  I backed Theatre Of War 2.15 last time, he did not really progress from his first run that day, he was only 4th, possibly due to fastish ground.  Hopefully he can run a much better race today on his first try on the all weather surface.

9 July 2018

Late blog today.  Looking forward to going to Newmarket for a few days this week.  The July meeting is always good, usually good weather, plus really good horses running at the meeting all week.  It will be good to catch up with family and friends.

Rain is needed at many of the racecourses.  Looking at the forecast, it does not seem to be coming any time soon.  A lot of tracks are watering, safe ground is essential, obviously the ground is fast, small fields do not look good, and in a sport that is an entertainment business, racegoers want to see plenty of runners on show, as do the bookmakers !

Just back from Sark , a very small Island near Guernsey.  Had a good overnight stay, camping !!

The Sark summer music festival was good.  But the festival had a 90 plus minute break for lots of people who wanted to watch the England match.  I saw the game, a great result in beating Sweden.

I did not see any racing yesterday.  So will catch up later watching the recordings from all meeetings.

Just saw the massive error by the judge at Sandown in the first race.   He announced Rio Ronaldo the winner, and 5 minutes later corrected his mistake !

Barry Dennis( bookmaker) was interviewed on RUK, he explained that he had paid out over two grand on Rio Ronaldo. And has to pay out on the now official winner, Vibrant Chourds.  I am not a judge, but a mistake like today’s judge has made, is poor at best. We all make mistakes,  who I feel sorry for,  are the owners of Rio Ronaldo, they had a few moments of win elation, and then find out they were second.

I trying give followers a odd winner, normally on the horses.  But I did advise followers that Uruguay were value to beat Russia in an earlier group match.

Today they face France, I think that they are a bit of value again at around  17/5- 7/2 !

More later.

5 July 2018

Late post today.  Busy day, but good day !

Marnie James 4.30 Haydock who I advised at 11/10 (without fav) bet, WON very easily.  I have had 2 WINNERS from 3 horses advised in July for my subscribers.  Pleased he won for Iain Jardine, his horses are running well.  He is pleased with Linganno Felice, currently on schedule for his intended race at Market Rasen on 21st July.   It will be a step up in class, first time in a handicap.  But if you are not in it, you can’t win it !

Some nice racing currently on at two flat meeting in the UK.  Hopefully I can find another winner.
