5 February 2019

I hope followers may have had the double I had yesterday.  Gantier 4:30 Lingfield and Marhaban 8:25 Wolverhampton, they were a bit short when I mentioned yesterday that I had backed them in a double, but both did the business ! Not too sure Gantier is in love with racing, he made hard work of winning.

Racing at Market Rasen goes ahead, a few decent types racing at the Lincolnshire track today.  Bachelor will be hoping to get some prize money for connections at 1:50, he fell last time behind a very useful horse, and may just edge it today over Lisheen Castle, if none the worse for his recent tumble.  At Newcastle, I thought Tetradracham was a convincing winner last time at Wolverhampton.  He has been raised 9lb for that, but he won by 7 lengths that day, he seemed a different horse in the tongue tie, which he wears again today.

I have been reading about the trainer Darren Weir in Australia.  He looks like getting a ban for possessing illegal electronic devices, known as jiggers, after they were found at his stables by police and stewards during a raid.  He is a leading trainer, having trained a Melbourne Cup winner in 2015. A “Jigger ” is the local name for an electronic device, usually used with a whip, and is designed to deliver an electronic shock to a horse in a bid to produce a better performance on the track.  All I can say about it, is if he has been using Jiggers, he deserves a ban, if you have to resort to that kind of training, you don’t belong in the sport.

4 February 2019

I was just looking at some footage of Kachy win on Saturday at Lingfield, his time was a course record, a second track record over 6f, he was clocked at an incredible time over the first 5f of the race as well, under 57 seconds, which is rapid !

Looking at some of the results today so far.  Hathal was a game winner of the 5:55 Wolverhampton.  Arcanada was heavily eased in the race, hopefully he will be ok, he was never in his usual front running position, and was beaten 3f out, he has put in a few bad runs in his time, so may be a horse to back “in play” in the future.

The next few days look pretty tough, only Newcastle and Market Rasen on tomorrow, maybe the clerk of the course will look at the jump track tomorrow.

4 February 2019

Another good WINNER yesterday for my subscribers.  Sir Erec was a very easy winner of the 1:15 Leopardstown, he returned at 13/8.  A healthy start to February.

Today looks quite tough, a couple of good things running, Gantier 4:30 Chelmsford, and Marhmoon 8:25 Wolverhampton, but ridiculous prices, I actually backed them in a double last night, they were bigger odds than they are now !

One race that is hard to work out is the 5:55 Wolverhampton.  A small field go to post, the horse I prefer is Arcanda.  A winner of this race last year, he likes to make the running, his time was good last time he ran when winning at Lingfield.  He has a very good jockey riding as well, so a lot of positives.  I believe Hathal could be his biggest danger, he is third best in the betting, so an interesting race.

More later.

3 February 2019

Today has Southwell on the all weather, and Leopardstown in Ireland.  Some nice horses racing at the Irish venue.  The 3:00 is a difficult choice, Delta Work is top rated, he has done little wrong so far, the mare La Bague Au Roi is tough and honest, she will not make it easy for her male rivals, this is not just a two horse race, Winter Escape is another that has to be respected.  At Southwell, Ornate goes at 2:45, he seems to be at the top of his game at the moment, his young jockey Phil Dennis can really ride, he is good value for his 3lb claim, and knows this horse well, I think he can win again.

Reflecting on yesterday’s racing.  Apples Jade was very impressive in winning the Irish Champion Hurdle, if she was mine I would take her to Cheltenham, and run her in the two mile Champion Hurdle, her owners racing manager said he did not think that would be the choice after the win yesterday, but she will run in the mares only race.  At Sandown Buveur D’ Air was impressive in winning his prep race for Cheltenham, but he didn’t have strong rivals.

Hopefully followers took my advise and put Kachy and Wissahickon in some multiple bets yesterday, they were short odds but both won easily, I try to give followers a few selections, my belief is any winner is a good price !

2 February 2019

A good start to February  for my subscribers yesterday.  Porrima 5:45 Newcastle was advised at 3/1 in the morning, backed into 11/4, she won a shade cosy.  Hopefully today will carry on much the same.

I also gave followers a couple of winners, Creationist at Newcastle, was around 4/5 when I mentioned him, and Waters Edge strolled home at Lingfield, he was heavily backed as well, a 5/6 shot early morning.

Today has some decent racing from Sandown.  I do like Vinndication 2:25, he is unbeaten and finds a lot for pressure, I would not bet against him again today.  At Lingfield Kachy is lightning fast, he will take a bit of beating, even though he may be better over 5f, than today’s  6f race, he runs at 1:45.  Wissahickon will be one for the doubles and trebles, he runs at 2:55, way clear on the ratings, he will take a bit of beating.

I always find Saturday very hard, it is so competitive, with good prize money, the majority of races have 4 or 5 with strong claims, a bit harder to break down.

1 February 2019

Only all weather racing today.  Three meetings in the U.K and Dundalk this evening in Ireland.

At Lingfield, Water’s Edge may well have a good chance of getting off the mark at 2:55.  He was only just beaten last time, Fast Boy ran ok last time over 1 mile, he could improve, he will need to relax better, as he was a bit keen last time in the early stages of the race.  The final race on the card is at 4:30. An apprentice handicap, it normally pays to back the best and rider with the most experience.  Isomer is not very honest, but is talented, plus his rider knows him well, and is the most experienced of these young jockeys.  He has an opportunity to win this, although he is a cautious bet only.  At Newcastle later today, Creationist should win again at 4:45, he has only two rivals.  And Lion Hearted 6:45, won last night at the track.  If he is anywhere near to how he was 24 hours ago, he will win again.

Looking forward to the weekend, it all depends on the weather, if any grass racing will go ahead tomorrow.

31 January 2019

Having watched the Meydan racing today, I had backed Divine Image in the 3:05,  unfortunately she was left about a dozen lengths as the stalls opened, and then faced all the kick back drawn where she was, as her jockey chose to go on the inside.  To finish 2nd in the end, was an unbelievable performance. If she turns up in the UAE Oaks and faces the winner again, I think she will beat her.  Divine Image has always been highly regarded, so hopefully she comes out of her race ok, as it was not the most pleasant of experiences on her second run, she is one to follow.

Her jockey William Buick had better luck later on Oasis Charm, he is very game and keeps winning.  One horse to follow is also Capezzano, he won by a long way in the 4:50 race over 8f, he may well step up next into pattern company.

31 January 2019

Last day of January.  Another month of profit for my subscribers, currently +4.2 points (£420.00) in front, it would be nice to end the month on a winner today.

With regard to today’s racing. Abandoned meetings on grass, two all weather meetings in the U.K. And a mixture of dirt and turf at Meydan.  Looking at Meydan, which is always ultra competitive, the main dirt race is the 4:15, a Group 3 with almost £100,000 first prize.  Drafted is the choice of Pat Dobbs, which is very noticeable, as he won the race last year on My Catch, who also runs today. Switzerland also runs, he is a winner on dirt in America, it looks difficult on finding the winner !

At Newcastle this evening, Portledge would be my idea of the winner of the 6:25.  He likes the track, likely main threat is Followthesteps, he tries the tapeta for the first time, so if he handles it, he is a danger.

30 January 2019

The two meetings on turf today have been abandoned.  So just the two all weather cards, which will hopefully go ahead.

At Lingfield the 2:20 is a maiden for 3 year olds and upwards.  It is always hard for the 3year olds at this time of year, they get the weight allowance, but older horses are bigger and more mature, so I would favour the older filly Simple Thought in this, she has been running well against her age group, and could put her experience to use today and get her head in front. I also like the chances of Scorched Breath 3:50, he ran well last time, I’m not certain on the unraced With Caution, she may well be useful, but I think my selection could be a key player in this race.  At Wolverhampton, I notice Jamie Spencer is returning to riding, I believe he has been in America, he should get a winner from his two mounts for Gordon Elliott, with the last race horse Counting Sheep looking the best chance.

29 January 2019

Another good WINNER yesterday for my subscribers, Slowmo 5.25 Wolverhampton was advised at 9/4 on Sunday evening, he was heavily backed into evens, making all the running, before winning easily under Richard Kingscote.

I also advised my followers to back Loug Derg Spirit at Ludlow, who won and Precious Cargo was my selection to come out on top in the 1:00 Kempton, he won well, and was given a very good ride by Nico de Boinville.

Today has some all weather racing, and jumping at Newcastle and Down Royal in Ireland.  Lingfield has been abandoned.  A few horses I like at Newcastle, hopefully racing will go ahead, as some poor weather is forecast in the U.K. over the next few days. At Wolverhampton, it’s competitive racing.  The likely best race of the card is the 7:15, it has some decent horses lining up, James Street the only three year old,  is taking on older horses, a tough ask at this time of year, Sanaadh has been supported in the betting, although his win was over 7f, with that in mind it is probably a race to watch. Joegogo will try and defy a penalty for his win on Saturday, he steps up in class today, so it will not be as easy in the 7:45.  I thought Peters Cousin could get another win at Newcastle in the 1:20, she looks progressive, the drop back to 2 miles should not be a major problem, she may be well handicapped off 111.
