A good winner earlier this evening, First View 5.10 Kempton advised to my subscribers at 9/4 (without First Reciever) this morning. I played the safer option, although he was an outright winner. Looking at the remaining races this evening, Busby 7.10 could well get another win at the track. He has really good form at the track and course form at the track is always helpful. Looking ahead to the rest of the week, some really good meetings, the jump racing is slowly taking centre stage, with today’s big race at Exeter going the way of the Nicky Henderson trained Janika. The Halton Gold Cup, is always a good Handicap, carrying grade 2 class, and over £40,000 to the winner. Henderson is always a stable to follow during November, he usually has his horses in good health.

October was a good month of profit for my subscription members, with +4.32 points(£432.00) so that was a plus. With plenty of rain overnight, the ground will be testing at the majority of turf meetings today. At Newcastle on the tapeta, rain normally helps to make the track ride a bit faster. With the transferred from Doncaster group 1 Vertem Futurity at 6.00 for two year olds, over the mile. I think it is the first group 1 race on an artificial surface. Kinross has been heavily backed into favourite. The Ralph Beckett trained colt was very impressive when he won easily at Newmarket on debut. It is a big jump up in class from that here, as Mogul trained by Aiden O’Brian is a Group 2 winner, and has more experience. But it will be really interesting to see the race, as a few others lining up are potentially very useful performers. So probably a race to watch rather than get heavily involved in, Newcastle is really a tough last furlong, horses with previous form at the track are worth following.

A really good achievement by Trainer Mark Johnston yesterday. He broke the number of winners trained in a season, it was 235, with his treble yesterday he took it to 238, still time to get more !
Bit of a quiet week betting wise this week. I did back one at Southwell last night that managed to win, but only a small wager. Looking at today’s cards, at Nottingham 1.20, Dubai Acclaim comes here off a poor run, that was on the all weather, if he can put that run behind him, he would be the one to beat, I’m not a massive fan of backing horses off a bad run, especially at the end of the season. Ainsdale 1.50 loves the soft, come here in great form and would be my idea of the winner. He has gone up in the weights, but keeps progressing.
Taunton and Fakenham look pretty tough trying to find winners, tonight’s evening cards are at Wolverhampton and Kempton, hopefully I can find a winner or two. Racing at Dundalk on the all weather also takes place in Ireland.

The ground at Wincanton looks pretty decent, Aintree also looks to be pretty decent as well. After two abandoned cards yesterday on the flat, due to waterlogged tracks. At Wincanton in the 3.55, I thought Eritage would be well schooled for his first try over hurdles, he looked a nice type last season, winning gamely on his last run in a bumper, after being bought from France. The Paul Nicholls horses have tended to improve for a run, but his connections could have found a nice race for Eritage here. A few off the flat with ok form, so it will be interesting to see how some of those perform. At Aintree at 3.00 the Newmarket trained Kalashnikov will have to be well tuned to win, as Frodon is ultra consistent, and will not go down without a fight, the ground riding not too soft will probably be more suitable for Frodon, as Kalashnikov has shown all his best form on really soft ground.

A nice winner for my subscription members yesterday. Waterfront 6.25 Wolverhampton, was advised at 2/1 yesterday morning. Gamely holding on for a short margin win under Jack Mitchell. He is an improved horse for his step up in trip, and if not harshly treated by the handicapper, he could well win again.
The remaining evening all weather meetings today are at Wolverhampton and Chelmsford. In the 6.15 Kinsman, was a eyecatcher on debut when fourth at Yarmouth. He is short odds, but should win this. In the last race at Chelmsford, Casual Reply 8.30 has a good chance of winning, Pianissimo is the threat, plenty of talent, he has, but is not totally reliable, he ran well at Ascot when second, if he puts his best foot forward, he is dangerous.

Slow ground conditions at most of the grass tracks. At Ascot 2.45 Annapurna is side stepped by stable jockey Frankie Dettori, he prefers Star Catcher the favourite. I just thought at 11/2 with some firms, Annapurna is a bit of value. Later in the day, Magical is top rated, if none the worse for her run in France 13 days ago, she will be hard to beat. The 3.45 at Market Rasen is a really classy event for such a small field of novice chasers. Hopefully Linganno Felice can jump well and run a decent race, he likes the track, ground possibly is not ideal, plus he has been off the track over a year, and likely benefit for the run, although at 20/1, he is over priced.
At Wolverhampton this evening, Falcon Cliffs 6.15 has a good chance of getting off the mark, she was given a lot to do last time, she has also ran well at the midlands track before, and should like the two mile trip.

Redcar was abandoned today. Leaving only two evening cards on the flat, with two jump meetings currently racing, we also have Dundalk all weather meeting tonight in Ireland. Not too much I fancy at the jump meetings. At Wolverhampton this evening, the 7.25 is an interesting event. Maqtal carries a penalty for his win at Yarmouth 30 days ago. He is taking on two of the Godolphin colts, with In The Night heading the betting market, having his first run, I think I would rather back Maqtal at around 2/1 to defy his penalty. Earlier on the card, Mischief Star is a bit of value at 6.55 each way, he is around 12/1.
Tomorrow has some really good racing from Ascot, and some other competitive races elsewhere. Hopefully no more rain falls at Ascot, as the ground is very soft, and possibly wouldn’t take a lot to be borderline getting cancelled.

The going at Carlisle today is soft, good to soft in places. Already one race has been ran. I thought the 1.15 was really well contested, a few travel a long way to try and get off the mark over obstacles. Some Detail has solid bumper form, his trainer Nigel Hawke likes to have runners here, although he is 325 miles from the track ! Tango Boy is another who is trained by a trainer who is sending a few to the track, from his stables close to Bath, so a fair old journey.
I may well update later, just coming out for the 1.15.

Just a short blog this evening. With the first couple of evening races just about over from Kempton and Southwell. I like Baadirr 5.50 Southwell, it’s his first try on the Fibresand , so a little bit of an unknown. But he did not like the quick ground on his last run on grass, so the surface should be ok.

A late post today. Leicester was abandoned earlier, I did fancy a horse at Mussleburgh today, who just did not handle the soft ground conditions. The remainder of races this evening at Kempton this evening, look quite difficult. Turn To Rock 7.00 is improving with racing, well drawn in stall 2, he has a good chance of breaking his maiden tag. The hardest race to evaluate, I thought was the 7.30. Alrajaa has really shown improved form of late, he won very easily last time, his 10lb rise for his recent win, will make it harder this evening, he also takes on course and distance winners as well, Sir Busker was well ridden when winning his last race, he would be my each way selection.
