28 November 2019

Hopefully some of my followers will have backed the two horses I advised yesterday.   Big Shark 2.10 Hereford was a convincing winner under Richard Johnson, he returned at 6/4.

Today has 4 meetings in the Uk.  Two over jumps at Taunton and Ffos Las and Lingfield and Chelmsford both on the flat on the artificial surfaces.

At Lingfield Nazaghi 3.00 looks to have found a really good race to get off the mark, Transition could well be one for forecast backers with the short odds favourite.

At Chelmsford 4.00 Kilconquar could well have decent each way claims, a good third on debut, when friendless in the betting, he ran really well and should come forward for that race.

Happy with the Sir Valentine 1.50  run, Evens without two horses I really feared in Ribble Valley and Proschema, with a good second to easy winner Ribble Valley, who looks a very useful horse.   A couple of interesting races later today.  Tynecastle Park 3.05 Southwell has good track form, and could well win again today.  Big Shark would be my option in the 2.10 Hereford, he is narrowly preferred to Mr Muldoon, it could be a good race for such a small field of only three runners.

25 November 2019

With all the turf racing today finished.  The ground at Ludlow went soft and quite testing, I was going to back one at the track in a later race, with the rain and change in going to soft, I gave it a miss.  It’s hard enough trying to back winners when things are in your favour, so when underfoot conditions are not suitable, avoid !

At Kempton Master Tommytucker was a good winner 1.30, he raced keenly in front and rallied from the last fence to get the better of Who Dares Wins, who ran really well.  The favourite Thomas Darby was a dissapointing 3rd, he never looked happy from halfway. I thought Culture De Sivola was given a moderate ride in the 2.05.  She did well to be second, as her rider Lizzy Kelly must have gone a furlong further than the winner, she was kept wide all the way, with the winner going the shortest route down the inside, and Papagana stayed on well to get the job done.

Looking at the remainder of races today at Chelmsford.  Montather 4.30 will not need to be anything special to win on debut.  It looks an average Novice Stakes, with those that have ran, there are 4 horses that have never ran, so one of them could be smart. Majestic Noor did run well on debut and will be better for that run, she could be in the mix.

I wasn’t surprised to see Donacha O’Brian announce that he has retired from race riding.  He has major weight issues, and must have got fed up with constantly reducing his weight every day.  Hopefully he will do well with his planned training career.  I’m sure he will be well supported with some good owners.

23 November 2019

Just on the way to the start for the big race at Ascot, Altior is 1/3 fav ! I think Cyrname has a good chance and 5/2 is big odds.

A lot of very difficult races today, trying to find winners on a Saturday is never easy. I did think at Wolverhampton this evening King Of Arms 5.40 may well get the better of the favourite Khaloosy.  Both ran really good races on debut, I just thought the former has course experience, and would of won with another 50 yards when second.  Both look decent types, it will be a good race.  At Haydock in the last race at 3.40, Know The Score has solid claims of winning again.  The ground at Haydock is really not too bad, usually very testing, it bodes well for a good race at 3.00 for the Betfair chase.

More tomorrow.

22 November 2019

A good winner for my subscribers yesterday.  Big Daddy Kane 3.00 Newcastle, was advised at 15/2, storming clear in the latter stages, to win well.

At Ascot 2.05 Master Debonair could well be well forward from his last run, he takes on a useful Mr Grey Sky who won 2-2 in bumpers, he could well be a strong contender to turn over the short odds favourite.

I may well do an update later today.

21 November 2019

Hopefully some of the followers backed the two horses I advised yesterday.  Both won well.  Torpillo who jumped really well at Warwick, managed to get the better of Mister Fisher, both horses need following, as they look useful prospects, it was a good effort by the second horse, as he may improve for a bit further. Looking at the remaining races today.  At Newcastle 4.35 Agent Shiftwell ran well on debut, when second.  He is around 5/1, a bit of value in those odds, and will be definitely in the mix, so worth a small wager.  Mons Star 7.30 looks like he is a penalty kick in a really weak looking event.

Every one is looking forward to the weekend, two really good races over fences.  Altior vs Cyrname at Ascot.  And Bristol Di Mai takes on Lostintranslation at Haydock.  Hopefully not too much rain falls over the next few days, and the ground is not too deep at both tracks.

More later.

20 November 2019

The ground today on grass looks testing at Hexham and Warwick, I would imagine it will be pretty much the same at Chepstow.  At Hexham in the 2.00,  Kileaty Briggs is the only ride of the day for Adrian Heskin.  He should oblige with a win, having just been chinned on his last run, I would be surprised if he gets turned over at short odds.  A really decent Novice Chase  at Warwick 2.10, Mister Fisher will likely start as favourite, trained by Nicky Henderson, he has really strong form over hurdles, he will be well schooled for his first try over fences.   Torpllo who receives a handy allowance for being only four, could well make use of that, and would be my idea of the one to watch closely, it is not strictly between these two, as Lisp who is headstrong, may well run well, he has also shown useful form over hurdles as well.

Switching codes: Football

I was a little bit surprised to see the change of management at Spurs over the last 24 hours.  Jose Mourinho has been appointed as new head coach, with the termination of Mauricio Pochettino’s contract.  The big question, is will Jose be able to turn around the poor start for the club.  Football managers change all the time, the rumour mill did think Pochettino was a candidate to take over when Mourinho was sacked at Manchester United, and here we see now he has lost his job, I don’t think the Argentine manager will be waiting too long, he will be offered plenty of good jobs in football over the next few months.  I thought he was doing a good job at Spurs, but obviously more was expected, from the Tottenham board.

16 November 2019

I haven’t got too involved today with the racing.  Really testing ground at Cheltenham, some big priced winners, as is the norm on really slow ground.  Looking at the racing at Wolverhampton this evening, the 4.45 looks a really decent race.  Poets Mind would be my slight preference, Celestran is a real danger. I have actually backed them both ! Celestran to win and Poets Mind without Celestran.

13 November 2019

Very testing ground at most of the race meetings today.  So a bit of caution in having a bet.  At Ayr the booking of decent 5lb claimer could make the difference to the chance of River Icon 2.15.  She has been running well on the flat of late, the heavy ground will make this a real slog, this mare stays well, and would be my choice here. The remainder of the card looks very difficult, hopefully the current dry weather at the track will stay, and not make the going any softer. She’s  A Rocco has been well backed in the last race, a bumper.  Her trainer likes to have winners at this track, so any more market support is eye catching.  At Bangor, already one race is over.  Augusta Gold is short odds to win the 1.15, Ailsa Mix is a real threat in this Novice Chase, for mares only, Augusta Gold has had a run this season, so that may well edge it for her.
