A good winner yesterday for my subscribers. Mare Australis 5.10 Chantilly was advised yesterday at 9/4, heavily supported in the betting into around 4/5, before getting up in the shadows of the finish line to win. His jockey Pierre Charles Boudot is riding as well as any jockey at the moment. I think he is the best jockey in France, he has so much confidence, although riding for Andre Fabre helps a lot, as every race you have a good chance of getting in the money.

Today’s cards in the UK look a typical “Monday puzzle” with a few I like, I’m just waiting on a few market moves, there is one race at Pontefract that could well be worth watching closely at 1.20. Meraas tries grass for the first time, this horse has the breeding to suggest he will be fine on it. What is clear is this event will be ran at real pace, which could possibly suit a horse ridden with a little bit of patience, so finding the winner is very difficult. If Meraas does get to dictate and is not hassled for the lead, he will be tough to pass, although Pontefract is a really stiff track, and you need to get every yard of the trip to get home.

A fair amount of the racing is already over today. Interesting to see a very well bred maiden filly running at Newmarket in the 5.00 race. Do You Love Me was 3.2 million Euros as a yearling, so connections will be hoping she can get off the mark today, to be honest, if she is any good-this is a moderate looking maiden, so it will not take a superstar to win it.

Royal Ascot next week, so I am looking forward to the week ahead, some really good horses racing all week, it is always hard finding winners, follow the Ballydoyle team is always advised!

A good winner for my subscribers yesterday at Yarmouth 7.30. I advised backing Man Of Promise, who drifted to 6/4 from very early odds of 4/6 yesterday morning, the drift was due to the rain, but it did not stop him getting the better of a close finish with Cold Front, who clearly likes ground with a bit of ease in it, the winner is not over big, but he has one thing, plenty of courage.

Lots of rain around, so a bit of caution in betting today, unless you know your horse likes ground with some ease in it. Plenty of racing to go at, with a fairly early start at 12.00 on the Tapeta at Wolverhampton, Hot Scoop will try to get punters off to a good start under Silvestre De Sousa. He ran well on debut last week, although no match for an easy winner that day, it was a run with promise, he is well drawn today, and should be good enough, although a few unraced newcomers could be useful, so watching the betting for clues is priority.

At Newbury this evening in the final race at 9.00, I thought Tuscan Gaze was a bit over priced at 9/2, as he won well last year on debut, and his breeding and size of him leads you to think that all he can do is improve for having just the one run last season, so he is interesting.

Big day in Ireland at the Curragh, with the Irish 2,000 Guineas at 6.40. Finding the one to back is tough, I am watching this race, as I believe it is wide open.

Good card at Newbury today, also Yarmouth, Lingfield, and Gowran Park in Ireland. Newbury going should be about perfect if the rain stays away.

At Newbury I do think Aweemaweh did win ok last season on the all weather. He finished his race off well that day, off a strong pace, so the straight 6f today should be ideal, as on a straight track, you need to get the trip well, especially at a track like Newbury. He is one I like.

At Lingfield Dromara King 6.45 has done little wrong, placed in all his starts, he could get a win for his decent claiming rider Finley Marsh, who deserves more chances, he is down to a 3lb claim now, and it is vital he starts to make outside contacts in what could be his last season with a claim, it is so tough when you lose your claim.

A late post today. I thought today’s day cards were very tough to solve, so I steered clear. The evening meetings currently just under way, with the first race at Yarmouth going to the Dettori/Gosden combination. His runners are absolutely firing on all cylinders. So a stable to follow closely.

At Kempton 5.30 I liked the two runs from Claudius Secundus last season, he would be my choice, if having a bet. Karibana is another to consider closely, he tends to get worked up, and always look on the ‘edge’, if he is calm at the start, he could well be the one to give the James Tate horse the most to worry about. Critique 9.00 could give Oisin Murphy another winner at Kempton, in what looks a pretty average event.

A good run with Go Fast yesterday 1.42 Dieppe, advised each way at 5/1, he got caught in the closing stages, still second was good enough to break even for my subscribers.

Looking at today’s cards, Arctic Vega 1.45 Haydock carries a winners penalty, but has experience and could well give trainer Andrew Balding another winner. At Chelmsford 5.45 is a race to watch closely, Sovereign Grant has been off the track for over 600 days. If fit he will be tough to beat, Godhead is a real threat, as he has done little wrong in his three runs so far, and the Gosden horses are flying.

Pleased to get another winner for my subscribers yesterday. Le Berry 1.35 Compiegne, was advised at 13/8 on Saturday evening, heavily backed into around 4/5, he was a facile winner. I have become really interested in the French racing of late, and sometimes think ‘value’ is more available when having a bet.

Yesterdays Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket was won by Love, who scored really easily in the end. Trained by Aiden O’Brien she was bang there all the way, and when asked to go and win about 2f out, she powered clear. The favourite Quadilateral was too keen early on, and her over enthusiasm paid in the latter stages, although her 3rd place was a good effort.

Today has some good racing from three meetings in the UK and the return of Irish racing at Naas. The 2.00 at Chelmsford has some nice fillies lining up, the front 4 in the betting market are closely matched on what they have shown, I liked Award Scheme’s run last season at Newmarket. She showed a lot of greenness that day, and could well be good enough to get a royal winner for the Queen.

Really pleased to get another winner yesterday for my subscribers, Terebellum 2.25 Newmarket was advised on Friday evening when she was 11/8, heavily supported throughout the day, she went off at slightly odds on. A cosy winner under Frankie Dettori, and I believe it was his first winner back in the Godolphin blue for 8 years !

At 3.35 the Pinatubo bubble burst, he ran well to be third in the end to gutsy winner Kameko. My main fancy Arizona ran below par, and was eased by Ryan Moore. I did back Wichita each way as well at 12/1, so managed to break even on the race, he looked like winning when he hit the front, and was only a neck behind at the line.

Today’s main event at Newmarket is the Qipco 1000 Guineas, at 3.35. If I have an interest bet it will be Millisle, who looked as though she would stay further when she won over 6f on the track last season. The 4.45 is a “match” race as I see it, between the front pair in the betting, and I would not like to predict which way it may go. Eastern World gets 7lb from his main rival King Leonides, if William Buick rides him positively he may just edge it, as his rival was a tad keen on debut, but it all depends on how he is ridden as well, Frankie Dettori rides this track well, and is a master at getting the fractions right if allowed to set them. So an in play bet could be the best option.

Good to get a winner for my subscribers yesterday, Imperium was advised in the morning, he drifted slightly to 3/1 before winning by a head in the 3.50 Lingfield. I think this horse has a lot more to come, especially when he gets on some grass and over further than yesterday’s 12f.

Today’s meeting at Newmarket 3.35 sees the first 3 year old colt “classic” of the year. All eyes will be on last years champion 2 year old Pinatubo. He was exceptional last year, and if he is within a few pounds of his last win at Newmarket in the Dewhurst Stakes, when he had Arizona in second, he will be hard to beat.

I advised my followers to back Arizona each way a few weeks ago, when he was around 12/1 then, so I am hoping he will be bang in the mix. He has a decent draw, and I have heard he has wintered well, and is the choice of stable jockey Ryan Moore. Talking of the draw, I think the majority of jockeys will want to race on the stands side, so stall 13 of 15 is ideal. Wichita who also represents the Ballydoyle team is another I think will run well.

I have been watching plenty of French racing of late, Grand Glory 6.05 Lyon could well be hard to beat, she is around 11/8, and won well last time, and should cope well enough with the soft ground.

Anyone who took my advise and backed Malotru yesterday at Newcastle, will probably be pretty dismayed at the ride from Luke Morris. The horse should clearly of won. Having ridden myself, I can know you can encounter ‘traffic” problems when making ground, which Morris did, but for me the biggest error was he had his whip in his wrong hand, and Malotru went left under pressure, giving ground away. Morris only had to look at the horses form, he went left last year, when he was beaten at Newbury. So to of even had his whip in his right hand was a mistake a senior experienced rider should not make.

On to today. Newmarket has good racing, with the main race being the Coronation Cup at 3.35, which has been transferred from Epsom, and has a good field. The favourite is Ghaiyyath, who when last seen running in Europe was below expectations in the Prix D’Arc de Triomphe back in October last year. A win in Dubai in February, so a break since that run, of which he won well. He can run well off a break, but my concern for him is the track. He is keen, and will be fresh, which will make William Buick’s job even harder, as he needs to save energy, Newmarket is almost 10f in a straight line, so I wont be backing him at cramped odds. Defoe won this race last year (at Epsom) and he stays well, as does Stradivarius, who is dropping back in trip, but is worth consideration, the same applies to the Ballydoyle pair Anthony Van Dyck and Broome, with the former having won a Derby. If he is anywhere close to his Derby form, he is overpriced at around 7/, I will have an interest bet on him. I also think Defoe is value as well at 4/1.

Delta Royalty 4.45 at Newmarket looked quirky when she won last year at Kempton on the all weather surface. She is clearly talented, as she was backed that day like defeat was not an issue, she has some interesting rivals, most of who are unraced, so I am going to watch this race.

Miss Yoda looks as though she is the one to beat at Lingfield 2.40. She was a tad keen when getting beat at Newmarket in the Autumn, but still ran well to be second, and the Gosden horses are in good form.
