A good winner for my subscribers yesterday, Papa Cocktail 7.05 Haydock was advised at 5/2 , getting a gap on the rails inside the latter stages, he won well. Hopefully followers may of backed Spanish Kiss and Maytal both advised on yesterday’s post, short odds winners but any winner is a good price!

Today I like a few, I’ve backed Briezh Eagle 1.05 Chantilly , just loading the stalls. I also like Gentle Ellen 1.45 Pontefract.

With very soft ground at Ascot I am going to probably avoid having a bet there. Although the first race of the day at the Berkshire track has some really promising two year olds lining up. Point Lonsdale was really impressive when he won his maiden on his debut at the Curragh. He is likely to start at short odds, he is a half brother to Broome, who runs in a later race at Ascot, Broome handles soft ground ok, and it was good to yielding when Point Lonsdale won. My theory is a good horse will handle any ground, but they do have a preference to show their very best form. It is really interesting race and will throw up a good few future pattern race performers, no doubt about that.

Maytal 6.00 Haydock looks a penalty kick ( keeping an eye on the weather) with the useful Mark Crehan taking off a handy 5lb allowance, I’m trying to find one to put in a double. I think Newmarket will be on the ‘slow’ side ground wise. The staying race over 1m 6f at 2.10 is between Spanish Kiss and Chasing The Bar. Both won well on their latest starts, Spanish Kiss was probably more impressive as it was a better race than his main rival won at Carlisle, it is really difficult trying to split these two promising stayers, my slight preference is for Spanish Kiss.

A late post today. I have avoided Royal Ascot to a large degree, but did advise my subscribers to back Alenquar 3.05 at 2/1 this morning, who got the job done. Looking at tonight’s evening card at Newmarket , I do like the chance of Divine Magic 7.30, she has won on good to soft going before. A good second on her latest run at Leicester when second , after being given a lot to do. I think she can win tonight if ridden more forward to the pace.

More tomorrow.

16 June 2021

The second day of Royal Ascot, it looks difficult as ever. I do like Wordsworth 3.05, although Ryan Moore has got his choice of rides this year very wrong in the major races. But this horse has good form and should stay well, he has some strong rivals, Kyprios his stablemate could pose the biggest threat. I also think Love 4.20 has major claims of winning, she runs well off a lay off and with plenty of speed she will have no issue with the 10f trip.

Looking at racing in France, at Saint Cloud, Afghany 2.35 will be hard to beat, he has had two good runs so far, finishing second on both starts, he has solid claims of getting his head in front today.

14 June 2021

Looking at tonight evening card at Kilbeggan. One horse I thought that would win at short odds is Meticulous 5:10, he winning a maiden hurdle last time on decent ground, and I think he is a much better horse when it is riding good or close to that, he should be hard to beat with a decent claimer taking off a handy 5lbs.

Looking at Windsor it looks difficult , Canonized 6:00 is a good thing, hence the 1/3 odds.

Tomorrow is the start of the Royal Ascot meeting , winners are hard to find, Palace Pier and Stradivarius could be two sure things during the week.

31 May 2021

A late post today. A good winner for my subscribers today, King Of Speed 2.55 Redcar got the better of the favourite by about a neck, returned at 9/2 as he drifted in the betting. One horse at Punchestown 6.30 Captain Corageous, I thought would win. Pretty short priced but should get the job done.

A decent end to the month for my subscribers, with another healthy profit. More soon.

26 May 2021

A good winner for my subscribers yesterday. The Tide Turns was advised yesterday 5.35 Lingfield when he was 15/8. He returned at 13/8, with a cosy success under Luke Morris.

Today’s meeting at Beverley has been called off due to waterlogged conditions. So a bit of caution advised if backing on the grass today. One horse I think can follow up at Saint Cloud 12.25 is Ebaiyra. She has proved she acts on heavy ground, and takes on Raabihah again today, very little between them on form and it will be a good race, I just prefer the jockey on my selection, which could be the difference.

17 May 2021

With soft ground at Carlisle I am not getting too involved there. Although I do think Lexington Knight has been found a good opportunity of breaking his maiden 3.55. He has solid form, and should be ok on the ground.

In France at Chantilly, In Crowd 2.05 – was impressive on debut, and has a strong chance of winning again here. Villa Darya 2.35 is around 7/1, she won and then ran a solid third, she would be my pick each way at those odds.

A massive gamble on four horses trained by Iain Jardine today, 3 at Carlisle and an unraced two year old Wiganese 3.40. I hope he can get all four, but it’s a big ask, Tomily sets the ball rolling at 1.35 Carlisle. I know Iain well, he can certainly train, he has expressed that it is not his money that has been behind the bets as some where around double figures last night.

14 May 2021

Racing at York has a couple of races left. Albahr 4.15 is well thought of, if he can overcome his inexperience he could be the one to beat. In France at Longchamp, In Swoop 5.00 is short odds to win. He has a slight weight pull with Sublimis who beat her last time, so it will be a good race to watch, with two classy horses lining up. I also like Sunrise Valley 6.05 Newmarket, who was second on her debut and that was against both sexes. With this a fillies race only, she is the one to beat.

More soon.

At Leopardstown today, it may pay to follow the Ballydoyle horses. Jeroboam 1.45 could set the ball rolling in the maiden. He has to overcome a difficult draw from stall 10, but his main threat has stall 11, so with his experience I think he can shade it from Eaglefield. Later at 3.15 Bolshoi Ballet faces Mac Swiney in a good Derby trial, it will be a good race, with his recent run, the former should have the edge.

At Ludlow Byzantine Empire was an eyecatcher on his debut over hurdles at Newbury. He should come forward for that run and if handling the tricky track should get the better of Olympic Conquer, who has course experience and is the horse to beat.
