Reflecting on the big race yesterday in France, the Prix d’l Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp. A surprise winner in German raider Torquator Tasso, who stayed on strongly in the last furlong, enabling him to get the better of Tarnawa in second, a nose ahead of Hurricane Lane. I advised my subscribers Hurricane Lane as an each way bet about 12 days ago. He ran a very good race, slightly losing his good position as the field made the turn into the straight, but he had enough time when he saw daylight, around 2 furlongs out, to win- he was just not good enough on the day.

Adayar ran too free, and paid for his over exuberance in the latter stages of the race, a respectable fourth at the line, considering his preparation for the race did not run smooth, he ran a very good race.

Looking at todays racing. At Stratford 2.52, Galata Bridge has a decent chance of winning again, if a deluge of rain does not arrive. I thought he was given a pretty average ride on his hurdles debut, when a staying on second to London Eye. He won his next start at Plumpton easily, which was not a strong event, but you can only beat what is put in front of you.

If Sam Twiston Davies makes plenty of use of him today, i think he will be too strong for his opponents, ground permitting.

After a good deal of rain falling overnight and this morning, at most racecourses. Finding winners will be even more difficult today. At Longchamp 12:23 Manobo lines up in a group 2 over 2 miles. He was a good winner last time over 12f, if he stays the extra 4f , which i believe he will- he should be hard to beat.

Looking at the track conditions today at Longchamp- should give a bit of guidance to the racing tomorrow, although the forecast is a good bit of rain arriving over Paris this afternoon or later today.

More later.

30 September 2021

After another good month of profit for my subscribers, with the current profit of over 4 points. A decent return for a very small subscription cost.

At Salisbury today, a lot of rain has fallen, with the ground riding soft.

Ribhi 3.32 will likely handle the ground ok, he was a shade unlucky on his last run when a running on 5th. i think he has a decent chance of winning, even with his penalty, for his win at the track, even if that was on decent ground.

Good racing at Newmarket over the last few days. The most impressive winner i thought of a Group 1 race, was Tenebrism.

Having only her second start in public, and having not raced for 181 days, she overcame her inexperience, and found a turn of foot inside the last furlong, that showed she is very smart.

I would imagine her trainer Aiden O’Brien will have another race in mind for this daughter of Caravaggio, possibly over 6 or 7 furlongs, before the end of the flat season.

If this filly does get further, which she could well do, she is a serious contender for next year’s 1,000 guineas at Newmarket. If that option is taken up by connections.

Today has some decent racing from Epsom, although its a shame we have such small fields in most of the races, but they are competitive. Goldspur 2.20 could not of been more impressive on debut, when he was a very easy winner at Sandown. A different track today, with lots of undulations and ups and downs, but i still believe he has a solid chance of winning this 1 mile and 113 yard event.

At Ffos Las, Nadein 3.45 has a decent chance of winning again, after his win at Catterick 41 days ago. He is a three year old, that looks to be improving.

21 September 2021

Looking at todays cards, Beverley starts at 1.20, with a Novice Stakes race for two year olds. Over the minimum trip of 5 furlongs. The draw is key advantage when the ground is riding good or faster, as the runners stay on the far rail. So likely short priced favourite Silky Wilkie in stall 4, has a good starting position. Having been second 4 times, today is probably his best chance of getting off the mark, as it does not look the most competitive of races, although current odds of 11/10 are a bit narrow for punters looking for bit of value.

At Newcastle this evening 7.20, I thought Freedom Charter was a shade of value, he is around 11/4 with a number of firms, and ran well over 7f at the track, that was his debut, and he was doing his best work at the finish. If he stays the stiff 10f, he could well be good enough to beat current favourite Sea King.

After watching today’s Shergar Cup meeting from Ascot, another good day for the female jockeys, with Nicola Currie finishing the day as leading rider. Her two wins coming on Just Hubert 1.25 and State of Bliss at 3.10. Both rides showed her taken as a jockey, the ride on State Of Bliss was a very good one, she ok her time, although never too far of the strong pace set by Star Caliber under James Doyle, hopefully Nicola can build on today, as both horses were trained by decent stables who shedoesnt red for on a normal basis.

Looking at the racing later tonight, Bolshoi Ballet runs at Saratoga 10.10pm UK time, I have backed him at 11;8, as I think he will be hard to beat.

27 July 2021

Today’s meeting at Goodwood, where the ground is testing after a deluge of rain. Trueshan was my advised selection for my subscribers, obliging at 6/5 under Hollie Doyle. His win was made easier with the withdrawal of Stradivarius, who is not at home on deep ground. Looking ahead to the later races today. Leading Theatre 6.35 Worcester is a course and distance winner, with a decent claiming rider on top in Liam Harrison who reduces her weight to 10 stone 9 lbs, she would be my idea of the one to back.

More tomorrow.

19 July 2021

A good winner yesterday for my subscribers. Order Of Australia 2.10 Curragh made virtually all the running to score at 2/1 under Ryan Moore. With the recent dry hot weather I would advise looking at horses at lower prices whilst the ground remains on the faster side. At Ayr today, Vintager 3.20 is a consistent performer, he acts on pretty much all ground conditions. He won last time at Windsor under today’s rider Mark Crehan , who claims a handy 3lbs off his back. He is worth backing at around 11/4 in what is a really tricky race, currently a bit of value in the betting.

Mark Crehan has been in the news at the weekend, he received a 28 day ban for his error at Doncaster on Saturday, misjudging the half furlong marker for the winning post, he eased up his horse Aerion Power when about to win. It was really unfortunate to see a rallying Colony Queen get up to win. Crehan looked devastated for his mistake, as he realised what he had done, it’s something that there is no excuse for really, but he will learn from it and remember to try to always ride a few strides past the winning post before easing up in future I’m sure.

15 July 2021

A couple of decent days for my subscribers, I advised Yesyes at 11/8 yesterday 1.35 Lingfield – who was heavily backed all morning, and scored at 4/6 !

Today I advised backing Japan 6.45 Leopardstown, who eased in the betting market to win at 15/8 under Ryan Moore. He was pressed inside the final furlong, but showed his class to last home by a nose.

hopefully the good run will continue for the remainder of July.

3 July 2021

Today at Sandown sees only 4 horses line up in the feature race on the card at 3.35 The Coral Eclipse over 10 furlongs. I like St Marks Basilica in it. He has looked really good on his two wins this year. And his latest was really impressive in the French Derby, I think he can make use of his 11lb weight allowance and beat the main rival Mishriff. I really like a horse at Chantilly today, later in the card. Hopefully the rain stays away and Sandown has decent ground to race on.
