A good winner advised for my subscribers yesterday. Factuer Cheval 12.20 Lyon- Parilly was advised at 11/10 yesterday morning, he returned at 4/7, scoring easily under Gerald Mosse.

Today in France at Chantilly, it is the French Derby at 3.00 pm. Modern Games, trained by Charlie Appleby will be looking to follow up from his win in the 2,000 Guineas (French) last month, when he was a good winner. Today will be much harder i think, he is poorly drawn in 13, and any rain will not enhance his chances. I would prefer to back something each way. Ancient Rome is well drawn, will handle any rain and if ridden more forward, has a good chance. He is a strong galloper, and being ridden for a turn of foot does not play to this horses best quality. At around 8/1, he is worth an each way bet.

Looking at the Epsom Derby result yesterday. Desert Crown was a comfortable winner, he had a clear passage, unlike Westover, who stayed on strongly after having trouble in running. Rob Hornby who rode Westover, may want to look at his ride a few times, as I don’t understand why he had his whip in his right hand, as his horse drifted left, away from his whip, when he managed to get daylight, on the run towards the winning post, horses are known to roll left down the camber at Epsom, he should have known that, he would not of won- but it cost him second place.
More soon.
