29 November 2018

A fair amount of rain around the UK.  Ayr looks hard work, current ground described as heavy,  I did think Kalahari Queen 2:25 could be a mare who will cope with the ground, she has a light weight, as she gets the allowance from the geldings.  At Taunton (raining) where it has good ground, it may ease to be on the slow side, one or two horses have been taken out of races, because the ground was considered too quick.  At Chelmsford tonight, So High was very green on debut at Wolverhampton recently, if he is more focused tonight, he could be difficult to beat in the 7:15 one mile two year old race.

Some good racing ahead at the weekend, hopefully not too much of the rain forecast will not appear, and ground at the race tracks will not be too soft.

28 November 2018

Late post today.  Delighted to get a nice 7/1 winner for my subscribers today.  Dubai Acclaim won the  5:15 Newcastle , he was always in the van, and galloped on strongly to win.  The Newcastle all weather surface is quite testing on the straight track.

I saw Breathtaking Look win the 6:15 Newcastle, a filly I backed last time, when given a strange ride by her jockey, she was never put in the race at any stage !

So I would not be surprised that the stewards ask connections for an explanation.

A lot of rain around, so looking for horses with soft ground form is a must on grass.  A few horses of interest tomorrow, hopefully I can find a winner.

26 November 2018

Pleased to give my subscribers a winner today with my selection.  I advised Seven de Baune 2:15 Ludlow, this morning at 10/11, he was heavily backed into 8/15 !

He was a very easy winner, I thought he had value in his short odds, as he only had one horse with any realistic chance of causing him any problem, the result however,  never looked in doubt.

A few races of interest tomorrow, hopefully I can find a winner, not sure how much rain is forecast to tomorrow, dry overnight would be good as the ground does look quite decent at the moment at the tracks.  With regard to today’s meeting at Kempton, it was a poor turnout in some of the races, with only two runners in the first race, and only three lined up in the Novice chase, it is probably because the ground was described as good /good to firm in places, the bigger yards are always cautious of running their better horses on ground that is on the fast side, as you do tend to get more leg injuries.

25 November 2018

Apologies for no post yesterday.  I was at a football tournament locally, and was not back until quite late.  Reflecting on the big chase at Haydock, I was really disappointed with Might Bite, he ran poorly.  Not too sure the reason, but he just did not turn up. Possibly something will come to light over the next day or so, too bad to be true, was my reading of his performance.

I just watched the 12:30 race at Navan, the favourite Gypsy Island was given an awful ride by Mark Walsh, sitting too far back from the leaders, his mare finished the race strong to be second.  But an evens favourite, given a mountain to climb , by her rider! He will not like watching the replay.

At Exeter today, I thought Our Power could defy a winners penalty in the 3:20, he won well and jumped well on debut.

21 November 2018

Pleased to get a winner yesterday for my subscribers.  Dawnieriver was a good winner at Fakenham 1:30, she jumped well, and rallied going to the last fence to win by a cosy neck.

Todays racing has some good fields at Warwick, Chepstow and Hexham jumping.  At Warwick I thought Exitas could be hard to beat in the 3:10, he won well last time and should confirm form with Beat That, who is 10lb better off. At tonight’s flat all weather meeting at Kempton, recent Newcastle winner Headman will be expected to win the 5:10, although Zakouski (Godolphin) is supposed to be useful, he could well give the odds on favourite a race in receipt of 7lb.

The main race at the track is the 6:40, with £25,000 prize for the winner.  Straight Right will be trying for a hat trick of wins, he should give a good account of himself again.

20 November 2018

Looking at today’s race meetings.  Some good fields at Southwell jumping.  I do like Ena Baie in the 2:50, she has not ran yet over hurdles, but should be well schooled to make a winning start.  At Fakenham Foxtrot Juliet has been dirtying in the 2:00pm , but she has done little wrong of late and should win again.

More later.

18 Nov 2018

A late post.  I have been watching the England v Croatia game on Sky Sports, so distracted from today’s racing.  I did have a good look through race cards this morning and last night, could not come up with a solid selection, so did not have a bet today.  Pleased to see an England win, they looked beat when going 1-0 down, so a bit of consolation for the World Cup defeat by a decent team in Croatia.  Just looking at the final race at Cheltenham, very open bumper race.

More tomorrow.

17 November 2018

Good fields At Cheltenham today.  Just watching the 2:25 race, I was going to back Rather Be , who just got brought down by the fallers at the third fence from home.  My each way selection for followers is in the 3:30 at the track.  West end Story has top weight, and it is his first run of the season, but I think at 5/1 he has good each way claims.  I also have been very taken by bumper race favourite Royal Illusion 4::00, she has won 2-2, and has a strong chance of getting her hat trick up today.

Some decent races at Uttoxeter, it has been Harry Skelton’s day so far, he has won three races, His mount in the 2:35 Molly The Dolly has a good chance of making it 4 !

16 November 2018

A late post today.  Some good racing today at Cheltenham.  The 2:25 was a competitive Novice Chase, won by Count Meribel, who jumped pretty well and with the fall of White Moon at the last fence( when looking as though he would be in the mix) it was a solid race, Mr Whipped the favourite, ran well to be third, he will improve for that run.

Some shock results at Newcastle jump meeting.  Chozen was an early faller in the 12:30, he was odds on to win, eventually the race was won by 20/1 outsider Free Range, who gave trainer Stella Barclay her first winner.  Rubytwo was 2/5 to win the 2:15, she was a below par 3rd, the winner Archview Sunshine was a massive 80/1 !

Tonights evening meeting at Wolverhampton has some good two year old races.  Ghaly is well regarded by Godolphin, he is short odds favourite to win the 7:15, if he can overcome a poor draw from 9, he will be tough to beat.  The 7:45 is a really interesting race, Metetron was a very easy winner over the track last time, he has a 7lb penalty for the win, if I was having a bet, it would be him without the fav James Park Woods, who will be hard to beat.

Good racing tomorrow, hopefully I can find one to back at decent odds for followers.

15 November 2018

Todays racing was quite good.  I did fancy one at Kempton tonight, as it was backed into odds on favourite, and I had missed the shade of odds against early this morning, I did not have a bet.  As is the norm when you leave one that you think will win and leave it, it won ! The Pinto Kid won by only a neck, and at 8/11 it was just one of them days.

The last few races tonight don’t look appealing, I am surprised that race planning has  two evening meetings Kempton and Chelmsford on the same day, pretty close to each other, and both close to London, I’m sure the crowds will be small.

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s cards, some really good races at Cheltenham, finding winners will be as difficult as ever. Hopefully the weather is dry and we can enjoy the viewing.
