Todays Free tip is as follows:

Horse: Idaho

Time: 3:35 Chester

Current Odds: 10/11

After having a run in Dubai, where he was a bit below par, this classy horse can bounce back and win this.  It is very calm waters, considering what he has been taking on, a very good run behind Enable last year and a win in a Group 2, would be more than enough.  His trainers horses are really starting to run well and Ryan Moore on top is a plus.

Of rivals, Danehill Kodiac could out run his odds, he is a useful horse and ran well on his latest run, he could be the one to beat. Muntahaa is useful on his day, it’s his debut in 2018, and he could well benefit from it.

Update: 4.55pm

Having watched most of the Chester first days racing, and having backed the disappointing Kinaesthesia 2.25 (who never went at any stage) it just proved my point about how some horses just do not act on the track.  I have made a note of a few horses, who ran good races without winning, the majority became unbalanced and lost ground through the race, to then run on through the closing stages, a lot of hard luck stories today I think.

I was pleased to see William Jarvis have a winner, his horses have been running well of late, I know William well, I worked for his father Ryan,  when I was at school, and managed to ride my first winner on the flat for him when I was 16.

A couple of horses of interest entered over the next few days, If I have a bet at Chester it will be half of my usual stake!

8 May 2018

Good to see the filly I put on the update won at Ludlow 8:30 tonight. Lust For Glory was a cosy winner, advised at evens, she returned at a shade of odds on, but the way she won was impressive, she will be useful when she finally goes over hurdles.

I am backing a horse tomorrow, and as I am doing a fair bit of travelling, I am putting it on tonight, as showers will not be a problem I don’t think !

Horse: Kinaesthesia

Time: 2:25 Chester

Current Odds: 4/1

I am backing her win, she won her maiden and looked useful.  This is a step up in class, with some potentially nice fillies in it.  I think my selection is useful and will really progress at three, the stables horses are performing well, her jockey won on her last year and a bit of rain will be ok, unless it’s a deluge !

The track is difficult for a lot of horses, I always bet with a bit of caution at Chester, as it is a track that a lot of horses find difficult to get into a nice rhythm at, so caution with the investment. Of rivals, Aiden O’Brian likes to win this race, he has three involved, the Ryan Moore ridden Magic Wand looks the one on jockey bookings, she has to show a lot of improvement on what she has shown so far, to win, but it will not be a shock if she runs a big race, Dramatically has useful form, but is friendless so far with punters, so she may need the run.

8 May 2018

Update: 7.55pm

Diamond Guy won easily, Champ was a non runner so it is a win only bet, poor odds but any winner is a good price !

I am backing Lust for Glory 8:30 Ludlow, around Evens with most firms, I think she will be hard to beat, she should be fine on the decent ground at the track.

8 May 2018

Nice winner yesterday, Return Ticket backed from 6/4 into 11/10, was a comfortable winner at Ayr.

Today I am having a double.

Horses: Champ 6:20 Exeter & Diamond Guy 5:30 Ludlow, both short odds but combined its around 6/4. No write ups as I am just about to travel. Both look hard to beat.

Todays free tip is as follows:

Horse: Return Ticket

Time: 2:45 Ayr

Current Odds: 6/4

A good winner of a bumper, he has the make and shape of a nice prospect to go over obstacles.  This is a race that will not take a great deal of winning.  I think the drying ground will be fine and he has the assistance of Brian Hughes riding. He can win this as a starter, before progressing. Of rivals, Swaffham Bulbeck has had two runs over obstacles, he was second on heavy ground before a disappointing effort last time, although that was a good race.  He is a winner on the level and looks the one to beat.

Update: 4:15 pm

Later update than expected.  I am just staying with the each way bet I posted last night.  Kitaabaat has eased out to around 6/1, it is not normally a positive, but I still think he has a good chance each way.

5 May 2018

I have just watched the boxing, Haye vs Bellew 2, stopped in round 5, with Tony Bellew again too strong and quick for his opponent.

I am putting a horse on tonight for tomorrow.  The forecast is for a dry day, so going changes should be no issue.

Sundays Free tip is as follows:

Horse: Kitaabaat

Time: 5:20 Newmarket

Current Odds: 9/2 EW

I am backing this horse each way.  He has been given a break since winning at Sandown at two.  He won over 8f, I don’t see 10f tomorrow being an issue, he should be fine on the good ground, if we have a bit of rain it will not pose a problem, his trainers horses are running ok, I think he has a solid EW chance.

Of rivals, Bow Street has decent form, his stables horses are running well, he is a danger. He’s Amazing is another that could run well at decent odds.

I will update tomorrow, probably around 2pm.  I enjoyed the races today, some really nice horses lined up in the big race, with Saxon Warrior coming out on top, he looks a decent horse as he looked well in the parade ring, but looked like a horse that can only get stronger as the year progresses.

5 May 2018

Update: 11.35am

No solid tip today.  I am interested in Sam Gold in the last race at Newmarket, I have decided to wait and have a look at him in the paddock before possibly backing him, it is a tight race, Symbolisation is fancied in it, I think it is between the two.  In the big race (2000 Guineas) Elarqam is the one I think could be value, but it’s wide open. He has had a gallop on the track, and EW he could be worth an interest. But nothing solid, typical Saturday,  very difficult to find a stand out bet, it is so competitive.

5 May 2018

I am going racing today to Newmarket.  The first classic the 2000 guineas looks quite open this year.  It would be nice to see Masar win for Charlie Appleby, his horses are running well and he won his trial well by 9l, he faces some strong opposition, Gustav Klimt, Saxon Warrior from Aiden Obrian, and Elarqam is interesting, his mother won the 1000 guineas and he is the son of the great Frankel who won the 2000 not that long ago, the race is open and interest betting only !

I will do an update around 12pm, as I am going up Newmarket Heath to watch some of the horses training and see a few faces I have not seen for a while, weather looks good ! More later.
