Unlucky yesterday with Geetanjali at Lingfield, a strong finishing third, beaten only a head and a neck. Her apprentice rider Cameron Noble showed his inexperience, trapped very wide off a slow early pace was what got his filly beat, but he should of made more use of his good start, he possibly rode to orders, but when you are riding in a race, you have to use your initiative, he is still a young boy and will hopefully not make the same errors next time when riding, as he has some talent.
Todays Free tips are as follows:
Horse: Raaqyah
Time: 2:30 Southwell
Current Odds: Evens (without fav)
I really liked the way this filly ran last time at Newcastle when third on debut. She finished her race off well, and as the vibes for the favourite are strong, I’m being cautious and backing her without Victory Wave. I do think she could well win outright, but I’m taking the safer option. Of rivals, with the fav not involved, Stealth looks the likely main threat, he has had a few chances already, I just think he does not look totally genuine, and his previous run when third at Southwell was just ok, but his last run on very soft turf ground was poor, Burgonet is making her debut, currently friendless in the betting she could well be ok, but Raagyah has shown she is talented off her one run, in what was a decent Novice race.
Horse: Might Bite
Time: 2:50 Aintree
Current Odds: 5/6
The biggest worry is the ground for this classy chaser, he prefers faster conditions, although he ran an excellent race when second in the Cheltenham Gold Cup last time on soft ground. He will like the easier track and the trip is over a furlong less than last time, I just think he will be too good for today’s rivals. Of his opposition, Bristol Di Mai acts well on soft/heavy conditions, he has had a wind op, so could well be the one to beat, he missed Cheltenham so that could be a positive, as he will be fresh. Double Shuffle prefers faster underfoot conditions, he would be my idea of the main rival if the ground had of been faster, as he ran a good second to Might Bite in the King George on Boxing Day, he has missed a number of races due to slow ground, today he is taking his chance.
I am also having a double with these two selections, it makes them around 2:8 for the double.
