22 December 2017

Some really good racing at Ascot, especially the first race which is anyone’s guess who will win that.   The 3 runner Novice chase 2.30, also looks like being a good race, I would like to see Finian’s Oscar win, I backed him when he was below par last time, that was over 2 miles, its back to a more preferable trip today of 2m 5f.  Hopefully he can prove himself back over this trip.

Todays free tips are as follows:

Horse: Divine Spear

Time: 1.20 Ascot

Current Odds: 5/4

Although short priced and inexperienced over fences, I think this horse could well improve a fair bit for the switch from hurdles to the bigger obstacles.  Having won at Catterick recently over fences, he will improve for that run, his trainers horses are flying, and I think he can be too good for his rivals.  The biggest possible threat could come from Exitas, he has been running well, and has a good claimer riding.

Horse: Posh Trish

Current Odds: 3.40 Ascot

Current Odds: 5/1 EW

I was taken with Posh Trish when she won at Cheltenham 34 days ago, in what is a very strong race today, with lots with chances and big reputations to live up to, this race will take a bit of winning, that is why I am betting her each way,  as she is round 5/1 with some firms.  Of rivals, it is quite difficult to know where to start on dangers, Gallashers Cross, Bullionaire, and Hidden Glen are all unbeaten.  All are promising types, I just think this big filly Posh Trish can be right in the mix in this race.

Today’s free tips are as follows:

Horse: Oskemen

Time: 12:10 Lingfield

Current Odds: 3/1

In what looks a possibly decent Novice event, a few nice types in this, my selection ran well at Nottingham just over a month ago, he finished his race off well, is well drawn and should be fine on the surface.  His racecourse experience could help him beat Sophie Grey who is unraced and may well be a nice prospect, another to consider is Sweet Charity, she ran a decent 3rd on debut and should be in the mix, Mewtow ran ok on his only start and could well improve for that run.

Horse: Gowithetheflow

Time: 3:15 Newbury

Current Odds: 5/4 (without Fav)

Im backing this horse without the favourite, he ran a good race last time just beaten into second, in a photograph, by a horse that won again next time.  His stables horses are in form,  and the reason I am backing without the favourite is that Melrose Boy, won very well last time and will be hard to overcome.  Of others Mr Whipped is no pushover, I just thought the race he won was weak at Kempton although you can only beat what is put in front of you ! His 6lb penalty for that win just tips the balance in favour of my selection.

Update:

Have a bit ew Mr Whipped in 3.15 as he is way overpriced at around 7/1

19 December 2017

Backed a horse yesterday that to me looked either ungenuine or a non stayer,I will give it the benefit of the doubt, but I won’t be in a rush to back Hasandonia again after yesterday’s tame finish in the straight at Wolverhampton.

Today is quite tough, I think William Hunter should win at Fakenham 3:10, he needs to be odds against before I will back him, (currently 11/10 betfair) it’s a weak race and he should have the edge on  his rivals. He was a decent flat horse, and ran well in a strong novice at Ascot last time, he should good enough.

Todays free tip is as follows:

Horse: Hasanoanda

Time: 4:10 Wolverhampton

Current Odds: 7/4

In what looks a fairly decent maiden, my selection will have to improve from his debut run recently to win this, no reason to see why he should not.  Having missed the break on debut, he travelled well in the rear, and ran on well to finish a close 4th that day.  He is from a stable that is known for its horses to improve for a run, he should cope with the extra furlong and should be right there at the business end. Of rivals Craving is a likely pace angle, although stall 13 will make it difficult, Voyager Blue could pose the biggest threat, he has a good draw and ran well on debut, he also has a very good rider on top, and has been supported in the betting this morning.

17 December 2017

For anyone who saw the fatal injury that Starchitect sustained yesterday when looking a sure winner two fences from home at Celtenham, it was really sad for all his connections.  Awful shame for such a tough genuine horse to end his life like that, the horse must of taken a bad step or put his foot down a very soft patch of ground I think to sustain his injury.

Back to today, Carlisle has been abandoned, but racing goes ahead at Southwell and Chelmsford and also some good races today In Ireland.

Todays Free tip is as follows:

Horse: Article Fifty

Time: 1:30 Southwell

Current Odds: 6/4

This horse won his bumper at Uttoxeter on soft ground , he looked the type to do well at the jumping game that day.  A winner of a point to point as well before his bumper win proves he can jump, and with Richard Johnson riding he will be well fancied to win.  Tossapenny is what I think the main threat, he ran well at Chepstow in a bumper and looked the type to improve.

16 December 2017

Nice winner yesterday at Bangor with My selection Forest Des Aigles going in at 5/6, he is progressive and could well win again.

Todays free tip is as follows:

Horse: Count Meribel

Time: 2.30 Cheltenham

Current Odds: 2/1

A really small but competitive race, I think my selection has Equus Secretus to beat and he will win.  Count Meribel won a good novice last time and will hopefully thrive for the extra 3f today.  His jockey knows him well and this horse will handle the ground well, of rivals Kilbricken Storm was lucky to win last time, I think he was only second best when the leader fell at the last, he has to improve a good bit to win.

15 December 2017

Small profit yesterday with Show on the Road  running well to be second at Taunton, backed each way at 7/1 he finished his race off well, the favourite was given a soft lead and well ridden by Harry Cobden, he stole the race I thought.

Todays Free tip is as follows:

Horse: Forest Des Aiglas

Time: 1.10 Bangor

Current Odds: 5/6

A short priced favourite, but won so well last time, I think he can make it three wins in a row today at Bangor.  He stays well and acts on soft ground, so a lot of the boxes are ticked.

Possibly his main rival is Wuff, he has been fairly lightly raced and has his fist start of the season today. But I don’t think he will be sharp enough to beat my selection.
