Another nice winner yesterday Lake Volta was 6/4 when I advised to back him, heavily backed into 4/6 ! Won by over 4L.

Today is what I always consider the most difficult, Saturdays have so many meetings, that makes it tough. However there are a few horses I think have good chances of winning.

This horse won well last time at Sandown, That was a Group 3 race.  The slight concern is that the ground is on the softer side than he has ran on before, (if it pours at Haydock don’t back) He has also a big danger in Laraaib,  who I will have a saver bet on as well.  I just think at 11/2  Autocratic  is good value each way, hopefully it stays dry across the UK today.

Nice winner yesterday with Entangling obliging at 10/11 returned.

Lake Volta ran a good race on debut, he was only 4L off the winner, with marked improvement for that experience he can win today. His rivals are quite exposed, Indian Warrior is probably the main danger, but has had a few chances, and I think will not be good enough again today.  With  Sylvestre De Sousa riding great at present, I think Lake Volta will win.

Plenty of rain has made testing conditions today at most tracks.

Horse: Entangling

Time: 3.10 Yarmouth

This horse has form on a soft surface, he ran well last time out, finishing  2nd after coming from a long way back in that race, today with a few withdrawn runners, the field is small,  so hopefully he will be ridden a bit closer to the leaders.  It is hard to come from off the ‘pace’ when the ground is soft, you have to be riding a very good horse or the leaders have gone too quick under testing conditions.  And will fold in the latter stages.

Entangling is with a decent trainer, should still be improving, and his jockey is riding full of confidence, so I think he can handle the soft ground and win.

Lots of rain around in the UK.  Bet with caution, unless you know that they have proven form on soft ground.  I am not tipping anything today at the moment, I do think Kohinur 7.35 Kempton can win, but is currently 1/2 ! So I will watch rather than get involved.

Lot of good racing over the weekend coming up, hope the rain does not keep pouring to make ground very testing.  At Ascot on Saturday it is the Shergar cup meeting,  Always good to see jockeys from all over the world riding at this meeting, I see Hayley Turner is going to ride there, she has made a hell of a lot of comebacks !

Update:

Lot of rain at all turf meetings today.  I did think of having an interest on a horse at Nottingham, but even though it has won on soft ground, it looks heavy and raining, so will watch, a few tomorrow worth looking at, ground conditions being ok!

Nothing solid today as yet, may update later today, a couple of horses running tonight of interest.

I have just read Caravaggio who I fancied to win,  has some problems with his feet, he has according to his trainer been ‘very sore’ since his below par effort on Sunday in France.

I thought Caravaggio ran very flat yesterday, Ryan Moore was very late removing his hood just before the stalls opened, and he got left a few lengths, after that he never got into the race.  But it was a below par effort, maybe something will emerge in the next few days.

Today has a few horses running that I follow.  Quay Point 5.35 Salisbury won very easily last time, she has been raised 10lb for that win, but I don’t think that will not stop her winning again.  She is currently around 5/2 , which is fair.

I think Banff is her likely main threat, as he won well on the all weather surface at Newcastle recently, but he also has form on turf.  Hopefully Quay Point can get to make the running, a lot of her opposition look like they are ridden from off the pace, so she has every chance of dominating,  like she did when winning at Nottingham almost two weeks ago.

Caravaggio was a shade unlucky last time when only 4th in the July Cup, the horse supposed to make it a strong gallop to help him, simply did not go fast enough, enabling Harry Angel to set reasonably steady fractions early in that race, and kicking off the front to win. Today I think will be more suitable to my selection, it is half a furlong further, which should suit, and Intelligence Cross could make it a strong gallop, which should bring Carravagio’s ‘A” game to the table ! Ryan Moore knows this horse well, and I think he can win.

Nice winner yesterday, Myboyhenry winning at Musselburgh at 9//4 returned.  I will try and put a late tip on today, I’m travelling so will be quite difficult !

Nice winner yesterday, Doublet advised at 15/8 won well at Epsom, he was heavily backed ending up at 5/6.

Today is quite hard, once again ground concern at many of the racecourses in the UK, lots of interesting races, as always I am cautious when betting on very soft ground.

I liked the way this horse won last time, over course and distance.  He looks type to keep progressing, and his trainer Karl Burke’s horses are flying at the moment.  Collateral has the form to be a threat, with a couple of unraced newcomers from big stables, who could well be useful, but I am backing my selection, who has a decent apprentice in Clifford Lee riding, he won on him last time, so know this horse well.
